Regarding pay - look what happens to transexuals.  F2M find that their pay goes up and they are taken more seriously.  M2F find the opposite is true.  There was no change in training or work experience, only the outward appearance and name.

Actually I just saw a show about that last night and women consistently make 70% of what men do doing the same job.

Or is this a conspiracy theory leaking onto prime time television? Oh the lengths people will go to to present a false version of reality!

Actually, it's a show about an old claim that's seldom true anymore. Look at fire fighters, cops, military, temps, servers, etc and *all* make the same wage regardless of what's between their legs. There may be some small corner of the job market where the 70% bullshit is true, but it's by far not the standard any longer.

And as a caveat, I say that even if it were still true....considering the old-fashioned way that men are expected to pay for dates, buy the ring, etc....it comes out pretty fair in the end, especially when you consider the story I saw when the recession was in full-swing that said men were being laid off in far greater numbers than women. This means that you must ask yourself -- would you rather have the perception of making more money, or would you prefer better job security? Apparently in a shitty economy, you can't have both.

Man, that is so true.  They think things are going well because they're clueless on the communications side.

I'm like DS, I need some quiet when I get home from work, it's like decompressing.  But I'm also quiet in the morning...until the caffeine kicks in.

On so many dates this past year, or on the phone with someone for the first time, I found many men overtalked, interrupted, did not listen, don't ask questions. They seemed hellbent on impressing me with their exploits, job, money, dissed their past relationships, were bitter about women, talked about divorce, blah blah blah.

Then at the end of the date, wondered why I was not interested in a second or on the phone when asking to meet up, said, WHY??? We are getting along so well? Whhhhat happened???

Men do you wish women would lose the desire to talk?

*Cell phone rings*
Man: Hello.
Woman: Hey.
Man: Hey what's up?
Woman: I just wanted to talk.
Man: About what?
Woman: Oh nothing.
Man: So why did you call me?

I find that highly unlikely.

Women do you find your man, potential man, ex-men will indulge and talk, or do they not even look at you when they speak and all that sort of thing. Do you find it satisfactory to speak with a man, if he opens up is it interesting to you or do you find yourself bored? Is it the content?

Women, are you left feeling unwelcome when you feel like opening up and talking? Men do you wish women would lose the desire to talk?

I've spent over 10yrs talking with him. I still look forward to talking with him more than anyone else. No-one interests me in as many ways as he does.

I've never felt I was being *indulged* anymore than he would. Sometimes he isn't terribly interested in some of what I'm saying and ditto, in reverse. I don't expect ANYONE to be interested in everything I happen to feel like talking about.

He's not just ANY man, to me, he's THIS man. I'm not ANY woman, to him, either. I don't *need* to talk for the SAKE of it but without talking, we'd have nothing.

I think you might mean being *talked at*. No-one likes that very much as it's one-sided and only one person is really getting anything from it, man or woman. If that happens to me, then I switch off a bit too, whether it's a man OR a woman talking to me.

I certainly wouldn't want to be around someone that's *making an effort* to listen or talk to me....lol.
If it's THAT much hard work, then I wouldn't WANT them to. I also don't make an *effort* to listen and talk. It has to be easy and natural.....even if some conversations are difficult, the willingness has to be there.

I'm not one to talk just to fill the silence. If I have nothing much to say, I don't talk. In fact neither Master Tim or I feel the need to talk just for the sake of talking. Our silences are just as comfortable as our conversations. Right from the time we met, there have never been uncomfortable silences, if we had nothing to say, we just sat in relaxed silence.

Well, you may find it unlikely, but that doesn't mean it's not true.  I heard it from the researcher involved, during an NPR broadcast.

It didn't surprise me at all.  I've had coworkers and customers who believed anything a guy told them, but required confirmation if I was telling them something (either from manuals, or from my boss!).  I've been ignored at trade shows, and had guys assume I'm a secretary instead of an engineer. And I've been paid less for doing more than the guys.

One of my customers, a well known attourney in the area, had an excellent practice with many large corporate clients. The bulk of them were in the transit industry. Trucking companies and rail road.

Upon transitioning from male to female, my customer's practice crumbled to nothing. Same skills, same knowledge, different gender..........clients gone.

Just because it's harped upon by mass media doesn't make it so. As I've already said, there are many fields where you make the same rate regardless of what's between your legs. However, women don't want to hear about that, because it doesn't support their case.

You talking about your daddy? Because you damned sure don't speak for me.

Though your post does wonders to illustrate my problem with women like you. I couldn't have asked for a better example.

One need not 'hate' women to be annoyed by all of their double-speaking ways. Look at this very thread. Look at my first post in this thread and how it was in reply to a very generalizing post made by -- a woman. Yet *my* generalizing posts are somehow "bad" but theirs are not? Bullshit.

And there you have it in a nutshell. I am only railing against the pussification of the American man, in whatever ways I come across it.

I am taking this out even though it is later quoted. I was rude here, I apologize. I rather I would have kept my mouth closed than feed this man any of my energy.

No I dont mean being talked at, although that is a drag when it happens. You are lucky, lots of women are with men who dont really listen to them, who dont want to. They arent trying to get out of the relationship but the communication end of it is lacking. I am happy you found a special man who can appreciate you for exactly who you are and I wish that on so many women. I was not referring to just any man either if that is how you interpreted my post. Wherever I go I am me, not just any woman so when I talk to a guy he is not just any guy either. If he treats me like that well I see through it and move along based on that.

I hope I would not stay in a relationship with anything less but I know how complicated these things can be. I am glad that there are couples like you and your man around as proof of something other than. Good on ya! 10 years of this great quality relationship is awesome.
