that is all fine and dandy, UNLESS it is used for discovering who and how many are disabled/ill and it is in the wrong hands (or racial profiling etc). Don't forget, the Nazis also had their form of the census/TSA., and as above, the US census was used to collect the Japanese for internement etc.

I wonder if people have any idea what so ever how many ways that information can be used in their own worst interest.

Now they can dump a disease in california and see how long it takes to get to new york and everyone unwittlingly participates.

Laugh operation big city is well know.  they ben there done that and will again.

Wouldn't it be easier to just dump the disease in New York in the first place?

Not necessarily, since the Gulf stream would send it upwards faster than it would take for the chinook winds (that circle south/west) to blow it down lol.

Status: offline 		Latino's are boycotting the census. I love it. Now, if Americans will boycott the census since Congress is using it to provide representation to Illegal Aliens which is unconstituional, we can eliminate half the House of Representatives. The fine is $100 for not returning it but they have never fined anyone yet. The penaly is there to provide motivation, not punishment. The penalty for giving false information is $500, DO NOT DO THAT!!!

I've already received my second notice, and I expect they will be sending someone out shortly. I think it's hilarious. I never answer my door anyway, and by law, you don't have to answer the door to anyone, not even the police, unless they have a warrant to kick in your door. Here's the article.

The National Coalition of Latino Clergy and Christian Leaders is urging illegal immigrants not to fill out the U.S. Census forms that are starting to arrive in mailboxes.

The coalition's chairman, the Reverend Miguel Rivera, says illegal immigrants should boycott the census unless comprehensive immigration reform offers them a path to citizenship.

The census attempts to count everyone -- regardless of legal status -- so that more government money can flow to areas with large populations. The Census Bureau says residents are required by law to participate, and insists that the information it collects is confidential.

But Rivera doesn't trust those assurances, and says more than 3 million members of his coalition's 20,000 churches plan to boycott this year's census.

He says 38 percent of the church members and one-sixth of their pastors are illegal immigrants.

10 questions asking my name, Ma'am's name, age and ethnic origin. Oh and phone number in case they have questions.

Basic info that damn near anyone can find out on a basic person's search.

Don't know what the hype is.

When you fill out the census form, you’re making a statement about what resources your community needs going forward.

Accurate data reflecting changes in your community are crucial in apportioning seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and deciding how more than $400 billion per year is allocated for projects like new hospitals and schools.

That's more than $4 trillion over a 10-year period for things like new roads and schools, and services like job training centers. 2010 Census

My question is, if you don't want to be counted in the census, what would you prefer in terms of methods to allocate resources, Members of Congress, etc.?

seems pretty intrusive to me..besides if the census is not legally evaluated for 82 years, then I don't know what good it is to know if someone is disabled would be in the year 2092.

Actually, that's exactly what we did in our household. We ticked the "other race" box and wrote "human being" as an explanation. I fucking hate that racial labelling.

Status: offline 		You realise that every time you give a non standard answer some poor sod is going to have to type that into a computer manually? When you tick the boxes they can just get the puter scanner to read it but because you wrote something rather than ticking them boxes they now have to send your form to India and have some low wage worker interpret it.

Putting non standard answers is supporting slave labour!

The Canadian census from years ago, as far as I can recall was very longgg, even asked if you were a smoker, what brand, etc. and no it wasn't a market research census. This one is more recent, even asking places of worship, etc. http://www.looking4kin.com/cancen.htm

It would be my choice how I were to fill out a census, and if it messes up their system, too bad. Like I said, the Nazis used their census for reasons we all know, as did Canada and the US to round up the Japanese ...both instances they ended up in slave camps, didn't they. They should be hiring locals (given the rate of unemployment) anyways, and I'd rather not be a slave in the long run. At least the Indians are getting paid (that we know of).
