This is completely inappropriate. To show your friends for a laugh? Sure. To so cavalierly stick such a stick in the eye of the many who revere this day as the heart of their spirituality is uncalled for and immature.

Yes, I'm an atheist too. And yes, much of what happens in the name of Christianity is messed up. But hardly all. Get a clue.

While my personal morals find such cartoons and commentary on any religious icon to be somewhat questionable, in the US we have this little thing called "freedom of speech." I support those who wish to use it to voice their opinions, even though they may be different than mine.

This is a case where freedom of speech is quite well supported. It does not cause panic or personal injury as someone who yells "FIRE!" in a crowded room might (or, it shouldn't if we are all tolerable adults). It might inflame some, make others angry, and probably make a few others giggle or laugh, but it is a supported right in the US.

i thought i was the only one who felt this was extremely insensitive from a poster who continually denounces the christian faith as being "insensitive".

I dont see anyone knocking Passover or any other religious holiday... as long as they arent christian holidays.

If someone had posted this to stir the pot about Passover, I'd speak up, so I'll do it here and say that this was a jerk thing to do. 

A "lovely" thread to remember the next time the OP calls for tolerance somewhere else on the board.

Not at all - just pre-empting those who might have seen no problem with an insult to Muslims as an expression of free speech whilst seeing a problem with this as an insult against their cherished beliefs.

Of course the OP has a right to free speech. And he's being an asshole too.

Free speech doesn't give one a pass on criticism.

In this case, pissing on something held sacred for crude humor is sophomoric and unnecessary.

From what I understand, Thor's followers have definitely become an underground movement.  Very much lying down on the job.

What is your problem, Muse? Yes, the cartoon is a mockery of something taken seriously by a great many people. So what? Now if the thread had been titled "Rejoice, for He is risen," I can see where a few easily offended sorts might have felt their eyes had been ambushed, but that didn't happen.

I thought it was funny (in a horribly wrong, go straight to hell sort of way), and appreciate it being shared.
