Looks just like mine, must be a turkey vulture!

Sorta profound; how similar they look and knowing they come from opposite sides of the country. [:)]

Google "Snake River Birds Of Prey" Panda.

Ken is the one who pointed out that its very close to where I live, and its famous for the variety of raptors nesting there.

You sure you're not just yanking our chain? I don't see any eagles anywhere in that picture.

Well, I'm not saying you're lying to us. I'm just saying I don't see a single eagle anywhere in that picture.

ThatDamnedPanda -> RE: Birds Of Prey (8/7/2010 9:40:29 PM)

Ah-ha! Found the disc with the California condors on it!

And here's another one, with 2 condors. Doing twice as much condoring in half as much time, or something like that. This was about 30 miles south of Monterey. Thicker than flies down there.

Bringing this thread back to show a blue heron that decided to go fishing in our creek today. I got a few pics before he decided that I was waaaaay too close and showed me his backside as he took off. [:D]

Every winter, the turkey vultures return to S Florida and dozens of them roost on the eaves of the metro Dade courthouse.

The joke is that they are trying to get as close to possible to all the lawyers inside.

Sanity -> RE: Birds Of Prey (9/4/2010 2:06:25 PM)

Wow, thanks Wyld, great pictures.

Blue Herons are awesome. I had water on my field all last night and it was full of Canadian Geese this morning when I woke up, Im thinking now that I should have shot a few pictures. I need to go on a photo safari before winter hits... its a good time of year for that, being a little cooler out now.

I still see several of the falcons over downtown Boise every day and the Swainsons Hawk still comes around on occasion.

Oh yeah, him! Too bad neither of us had a camera when one of those was directly above us with wings fully spread. Great ghu that was huge!

DesFIP -> RE: Birds Of Prey (9/13/2010 9:09:50 AM)

Not a bird of prey but a wild turkey decided that his reflection in a window was a rival. Little weird to go to the window and see this looking in at you.

hlen5 -> RE: Birds Of Prey (9/13/2010 9:19:07 AM)

I was in northern Wisconsin yesterday and saw a bald eagle in flight. I first saw it, then noticed the tail feathers, then the white head. Too cool!

My sister and the people we were visiting saw three wolves prior to that. Within the hour we saw 2 of the wolves (around 12:30 pm, no less!!) crossing the road about forty yards away from us as we were driving away. We didn't have a camera handy.

DesFIP -> RE: Birds Of Prey (9/13/2010 12:10:08 PM)

We saw two immature eagles last week. Must have been a dead deer in the woods because they were there for a while.

Now that's what I call a 'Peeping Tom'! [:D]

Another visitor came to our creek today, an egret this time. I got some nice pics!

Outlier2 -> RE: Birds Of Prey (9/16/2010 2:00:59 PM)

Birds of Prey includes those that do their hunting after dark.
And would sleep during the day, if perverts would just quit
peeping into their branches with cameras.
