Pure luck, Butch [:D] I couldn't bee-lieve it when I saw that pic! I knew he was after something, but the bee was too small for me to see at that distance. There is a wasp (lower right) in the next pic that I didn't see at the time, either.

My neighbor Marge flipped me the bird once after our blocks annual Labor Day BBQ.

I tried to capture the mesmerizing flight on film, but she disappeared into a rainbow of gladiolus.

Better luck next time, Chia! [:D] You have to be dedicated to get the good pics! [;)]

Marge has always been elusive. I thought I had captured her image once during our
annual Comeoniwannalayya Luau. But alas it was but a Polka Dot Wasp Moth.

I hope you all don't mind me reopening this thread but this morning I looked out my window to a front yard tree and below is what I saw.

Lucky the neighbors didn't call the police on me... I was in such a hurry to get the shot I ran outside in just my PJ's, and yes fluffy house shoes, and was sneaking through the bushes... of course I do it all the time so nothing new to them I guess...[:D]

We had the boat out of the water this summer and under a nearby high bridge, 2 peregrine falcons nested and lay their eggs. We had prime view and they were a wonderful thing to watch but I was amazed how brave the rooks are, they constantly attacked the peregrines.

Not birds of prey but the prey of birds of prey...Oh well an old thread but thought some of you may like the photos of humming birds I took at my feeder a few days ago.

Lovely hummingbird pics, butch.  Those bids look like feathered jewels.

Thanks Steven

They are my favorite to watch... if quiet they will fly within inches of your face and check you out...each has its own personality

Occasionally a bald eagle flies over my house. Aways very exciting.
My favorite raptor story is also a memory of my late father. He was visiting for Christmas one year, and had to lay down because he had a migraine. He got up a couple of hours later, and told me that there was an eagle in the backyard. This was when I lived in town, so I thought he was hallucinating. He used to do that when he had migraines, When I went and looked though, there was a bald eagle sitting in my enormous holly tree.

My second favorite raptor story is the time I saw a red tailed hawk attack a crow in the skies over my property. Next thing I knew, there was an enormous flock, hundreds and hundreds, of crows flying out of the trees and chasing down the hawk. He wisely abandoned the attack and got the hell out of there.
