Status: offline 		I only brought maybe 20 books with me.  They're dwindling.  One of the ones that I keep with me & will for a very long time to come is Guns, Germs & Steel, which my lovely friend gave to me on my first day of work with my last company.  Columbus, Ohio.  It's a fascinating book!!

Level, you really really must read the Stieg Larsson books.  They're delicious.  I "read" one on my iPod & my sister had the other one.

I too love the feel & smell of books too much to move to the electronic kind.  I have actually chosen books by their smell.  I have been reading for over 60 years now.  I don't know what I would do without my friends, the books.

Status: offline 		Sunny sweetie - I posted a package to you this afternoon, containing the Anne McCaffrey books we talked about.  Our Air Mail does not go to South Korea, so it is coming over on a "boat".  (I am hoping that they mean something a little bigger - like maybe a ship.)  It will take 4-5 weeks to arrive, but I promise the wait will be well worth it.  Redistribute the books as you see fit.

Status: offline 		A sudden lust to wallow in "Flower Gardens" by Penelope Hobhouse tonight.

....An idea for a new thread, thunk up because this one seems to pique interest. Thinking of Alphabetical Novels, or however one would refer to novels by their alphabetical title. Sort of the same as the other alphabet games. I would post it, but when I click "post new thread" nothing happens.
Maybe, maybe not?

The movie, yes!  And I absolutely loved it!  Such a "different" kind of role for Anthony Hopkins....

Status: offline 		Anybody else here grow up with the Happy Hollisters?  My grandma ordered them for me when I was about 6 or 7 and they came once a month.  I'd drop whatever I was doing, sit down and read them immediately, and re-read them all so many times.  Big part of my childhood :)

Guns, Germs, and Steel... Really interesting from a scientific perspective. He makes a claim at the beginning of the book and then spends the rest of the book giving back up information. It appealed to the geek scientist in me.

Status: offline 		Amazon has the Larson books, and they rock. Drop everything else and read The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. The other books can wait. And then of course You're gonna want to read "The Girl Who Played With Fire", and hopefully by the time you're done with that one, "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest" will be available in the U.S.

Has anyone read "Heart Shaped Box" yet? I'm curious about your reaction. (can't decide whether to buy it or not...)

Status: offline 		When I was a kid, I read and re-read all of the following:  The Bobbsey Twins books...how cool would it be to live in a railroad car?  Charlotte's Web...who hasn't?  All of the Trixie Belden mysteries.....sort of like Nancy Drew books, which I didn't read....go figure!  The Hardy Boys books, no reason, just liked 'em.  Judy Blume's books were great too....but there were so many more....when I was in the third grade, I was reading at a 7th grade level, so they let me get books from the Elementary School library....by the time I hit the 4th grade, I was getting into the High School's library......I always thought it sucked that they'd only let you take out 2 books at a time, but I read them so fast, the I was there every other day anyway!  It was only as an adult that I learned to "portion" out the books so I could enjoy them longer.
