I finished "Golf My Way" by Jack Nicklaus. I haven't returned it to the library. I probably own it by now. I have a fascination with Nicolai Tesla, so I think I may go online and order some stuff about him, or see if our library has anything. Heck, we sat in a bar for an hour and a half after it closed talking about him. And they say nothing good happens in a bar after midnight!

I did like your satan story. I would be interested in a book club...but not necessarily in one in which we can only get the books online. I don't mind paying for a decent book; in fact, books are a major expense with me. *lol*

Please keep us updated.

Ahhh blushie... appreciate those books. It is not easy for me. And books cost me about double here what they do there - if they are new. I tend to peruse the used book stores.

Ok... I promise to work on this tomorrow. I didn't sleep well and had a really rough day today.

I'll stick around and flirt and stuff, but I just don't have it in me to work on this today. I'm wiped out!

*wishing I had a beer... yes I really do.

i'd like to participate--it would be good for me to use an online site as i need to reduce my spending on books. i also work graveyard so being awake when a library is open is a bigger deal than i want to bother with.
i have to say, although i love reading the beats, And the Hippos were boiled in There Tanks is a yawner thus far.  i'm putting it down in favor of a book of fairytales illustrated by Rackham.

Just finished "An Accomplished Woman" by Jude Morgan. Very Jane Austen feel to the book, and a definite interesting read.

google.books.com also has a variety of books - moly "high Literature'

The other things I have found at least in mprovince is that the two large lending libraries (Emonton and Alberta) are now on-line, as is the majority of the rest of the province - in an Online Sharing Program.  MY city, however, is not. hisssssss booo

Am just finishing up "Case Histories" by Kate Atkinson. Had previously read "Behind the scenes at the Museum" so was intrigued to try another. This author and her work is unclassifiable, her novels being not just mysteries or thrillers or suspense, and not just sagas, and not just archeological digs of the ways
and means of the human psyche, and not just plain old fine literary fiction. They are an amalgamation of all of the above, the plot and characters developing gradually but steadily to a creation as intricately layered and deft as a good baklava. Isn't it terrific to find a terrific author?

That sounds wonderful. I will have to check and see if I can get one for my Kindle. Downsizing meant reducing dramatically the size of my library.

By the way, I understand that Kindle for PC is available for free...you just have to pay for the books, but you can read anything they have on your PC. That might be the way to go until you are more certain of what you want.

I have just read 2 by Stieg Larsson, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, and The Girl Who Played with Fire. There is a third one coming out soon, The girl who Kicked the Hornets Nest.

He died shortly after submitting the manuscripts so this is all there will ever be.
They are murder mystery books I guess you would say. But done in a very unique way.

I will read damn near anything, I just reread Shogun for the third time, I have read War and Peace,  twice. Both are long but that is part of why I like them. You typical novel I finish in a couple days.

I also loved the Dean Koontz, Odd Thomas series.

I am reading James Patterson, Run For Your Life right now. Kinda cool the way it is broken up into REALLY short chapters.  Like a movie switching back and forth between the cop and the criminal.

Hello everyone!
I read through this thread and tried to note who was interested in an on line Book Club. I think I got everyone. If you haven't received a c-mail from me, please let me know! I'll send you the link to the book club. Please note, I'd like to invite non-kink people to join the club and would ask you to have a more conservative name instead of UBERWHORISHSLUT or HOTPANTSAUSAGEMAN or whatever... Thank you. (I can't believe I wrote those names... eep!)

talk to you soon.

First topic made for the book club. Please sign up!

I chose a book for this month (one we all should have read at some point... a true summertime classic).

Let's choose one for next month together!

See you soon!
