I contracted herpes when aged sixteen by half-kissing a classmate with a herpes outbreak that moved to another town on her mouth. I recall that there was a moment of decision, so the Divine may have had a hand in it. I was driven by lust. I never saw her again. Unfortunately, definitely by an act of the Divine, the part of my immune system that fights viruses and cancers had been switched off eight years before that.

~grins This is what i love about such discussions. You, as an uncircumcised male, have no clue what its like to be circumcised. And a circumcised male has no clue what its like to be uncircumcised. Yet you each will tear the other group apart, demean them and yourself, all in the name of what both groups hold dear. Gotta love men!

Not just you, but the groups. Lets recap. According to this thread, any man who is circumcised is going to hell (not a belief i believe in) circumcised males have less feelings in the head of their penis than uncircumcised. uncircumcised men can infect their partners more easily circumcised males were abused as infants and the list goes on... its a little rediculous in that no group knows what is better unless they are grown men when they were circumcised and have a little bit of sexual knowledge before the snip.

Or is it the US particularly is infected with pseudo religious bullshit ? I still hold that medical knowledge took the place of religious dabblings, but in places where both it seems have a hold, either will do, as long as it gets the job done.

Tazzy, not a single one of those points was mine. Also, If you'd block Rule I think you would have found this thread a whole lot less offensive. Personally, I can't say I ever really thought too much about my foreskin but the idea that I should have it removed strikes me as bizarre. Perhaps the women advocating this practice will ponder the idea of getting a female circumcision for a moment and understand where I'm coming from. Maybe I'm suffering from some confirmation bias, I certainly am attached to it (pun intended) but I just don't see these "good reasons" to get circumcised when they are negated by proper hygiene and safe sex practices which (despite what eyesopened will tell you) still need to be practiced in circumcised males. I'm starting to wonder if some of the vocally pro-circumcision posters on here are motivated by a need to justify their having their child circumcised.

The American Cancer Society article I cited was about a study done with monogomous, fluid-bonded couples. Perhaps roughly 50% of those uncircumcised men were just slovenly. The study didn't say. I never said people should forego safe-sex just because the male is circumcised or that hygiene isn't as necessary for everyone, male, female, circumcised or not. I did not even imply that. I cited an article regarding a study of women with cervical cancer and the findings of that study. My concern regarding HPV is that it seems people who are against circumcision are also against vaccinations and those two factors could increase the risk of cervical cancer in women. Yes, there is now a vaccine. The vaccine was only made available 2 years ago. I'm in favor of informed choice. I don't see that circumcision is harmful. Trust me, if a hooded clit was discovered to be a source of disease, possible clitoria cancer or penile cancer I would think it reasonable to have the hood removed and would see no real damage other than a lot of guys would think it "icky".

But I suppose time will tell, maybe one day one who was mutilated at birth might just ask their parent why was it done, especially so as the rest of the world seem to be moving on with this notion, and it is eventually found there is no good reason for the procedure to be done at all. Possible questions to come I suppose.

I never once attributed any of those points to you. If i believed there was any health benefit to a female child getting circumcised then i would indeed consider it. I have given the medical reasons i had my son circumcised. i have given the personal reasons i prefer a circumcised male. [:D]

I agree with TAZ, Circumcised men ROCK! I love it- I want it, and everyone should be. I think there could be a law- that affirms my right to a circumcision. and that of my entire family- village and people.
