Granted. Or maybe they haven't stopped...you just cannot hear it over your own. You are suddenly terrified of touching anything and the feel of your carpet, your clothes, your own breathe coming out of your nostrils makes you scream in terror.

I wish I had a mildly debilitating, but not painful illness, allowing me to spend 6 months in bed reading and watching movies

GRANTED: the phone company says you can -
as long as you dial from the far west corner of the arizona desert and only use numbers to ring relatives in Suckastania, any other calls must be made through a customers arse at midnight - apparently you can save heaps that way.
 

I wish that I didnt live at the end of a cul-de-sac.

Granted, but you get mugged on the plane on the way over. When you arrive at customs with no identification or money to pay the bribe, you end up in a cell. It takes a month for your passport to turn up, verifying your story, so you are finally released. Bon Voyage!
