Take with it what you can or will. While I have not fully embraced any one religion or spiritual teaching, (reasons to which I not want to go into at the time), both Buddhism and Hinduism will help bring you to at least a higher understanding of yourself. As Musicmystery expressed about clearing the surface to understand what lies beneath. In essense it's a form of self mastery through knowing yourself. Some people are very hard on themselves needlessly, inflicting their own living hell upon themselves as a mean of self inflicted punishment for various things. None the less, this does little for a person to fully embrace what is inside themself.

Whiplashsmile4, An understanding of Buddhist philosophies wasn't necessary for this discussion. At best one merely needed a reference point to grasp the context of the ideas that were relayed. If the reader desired to peruse the bones he'd dig a little deeper on his own. But to start at the point without some definitive interest in taking that journey is pretty futile in my opinion. I am not religious by any stretch of the word. At one time in my life I held beliefs and practices that I no longer adhere to. However, my approach towards slavery has been influenced by some of the concepts put forth in Eastern teachings. Sometimes they come forth in the expressions used or the suggestions made. There's always a method to my madness. I don't pull it out of a hat. It's something I've done and tested with results I can articulate. I view each as potential vehicles to greater self knowledge. Whether one employs religion, dominance and submission, or other avenues is a matter of choice. Each can have a marked affect on the participant if self betterment is the goal. My quest has been largely based on uncovering ones truth, which may negate earlier truths as new discoveries are made. The writings on mindfulness, ego, desire, attachment, and stillness provide interesting ideas that could prove beneficial for persons in and outside of the kneel. ~porcelaine
