I don't eat a whole lot of seafood, and what I do eat I don't think comes from that area generally anyhow. But I would actually eat more of it if I knew that in that effort, those who may lose their businesses could have that staved off by my increased consumption. I don't think the oil spill per se really affects the fish too much, and once the oil drifts out of the way, they can fish.

I eat a lot of seafood. Wild caught shrimp is obviously off the menu for the forseeable future. Alaskan wild salmon is the only other non farmed seafood I buy ona regular basis. As a matter of fact I'm "working" at home tomorrow so I can take delivery of a shipment of live crawdads for a big boil me and my friends are having for watching the first game of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

99% of the seafood I eat, my Master or I have caught ourselves in Tampa bay. Not sure what we are going to do if the oil slips into our waters. I did decide not to buy gasoline from any BP station. I might buy soda or gum from the store owner but if I need fuel BP is not getting my money.

It's not because they live in toxic waters. It's because they are at the top of the food chain. Animals that eat animals, which virtually all fish we eat do, naturally concentrate any contaminants in the environment. This is why we mostly don't eat terrestrial carnivores. Of course if you aren't carrying around a developing fetus the trace amounts of heavy metals etc. found in most fish is harmless.

Should have said the trace amounts in comercially sold fish. Fishing in random lakes can get you in trouble.
