in a previous post, somebody asked me why i consider my boyfriend to be vanilla when he had attended a BDSM event with me and is dating a Lifestyle and Professional Domme.

My boyfriend feels that he is vanilla because he is only interested in BDSM in a sexual aspect and not as a lifestyle choice from his point of view.

What is your personal opinion on what makes a person to be vanilla or what makes a person kinky?

Ask 1000 people, you will get 1000 different answers.

That's why you could bring your boyfriend to a munch and still call him vanilla.

LOL

People often use those terms to judge others. I personally believe all of us are vanilla and kinky as well and find the classifications to be limiting, self-serving garbage. However, typically as I have seen them applied, someone that is only into bdsm in the bedroom is still considered to be "in the lifestyle."

Jeffffffffffff is right though, who cares? It's going to differ depending on who you ask and labels aren't all that determinative of what we really feel or do.

IMO, whoever practices any kind of BDSM or kink or D/s or whatever, is kinky and in lifestyle. No matter if it is only in bedroom or not.

However, you can be more kinky or less kinky.

Frankly, most of people are at least a little kinky, even those who think they are not.

There's an old joke that goes something like, 'kinky isn't just using a feather, it's using the whole chicken'.

The truth is something more of the opposite.  To some people that feather IS kinky.  Sure, a lot of people on this site would laugh at that, but we are looking at it from our standard, rather than their standard.  Kinky really can be anything that goes beyond whatever it is they consider "normal" in sexual or relationship practices.  (Those last two can be entirely different things.)

If your boyfriend doesn't see himself, or wish to be seen as kinky, who cares?  Have the fun you're having and don't worry about it.

Actually, I don't.  However, that is entirely a different subject.

I'll wish you luck in advance trying to tell every kinky person that they are "in the lifestyle".

And also, as Laurell said, we are all vanilla too.
It's not important how will you label them, whatever they think they are, let them be.

It is an artificial division. Some people identify as kinky but the reality is we aren't any different despite what some say.

My error - not "in the lifestyle", but just kinky. I think most of us are somewhat kinky.

Whatever the OP asks, it does matter. There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers.
The mere fact that she asked means that it does matter, at least to her.

Look... there are people in the world who think a woman on top is kinky. There are people who think oral sex is SICK.

I like to hit women with things until they cry and then fuck em!

So... who is kinky?

Kinky is the one who will never try anything but missionary position. Thinking that only this is normal is definitely perverted, and kinky.

Wrong again.

There absolutely are stupid questions, answers based on stupidity, and there absolutely are stupid people.

Anybody telling you differently is just patting you on the head.
