Great thread sunshine :) **With whom I am lucky enough to have an off-line friendship with and I will vouch she is the same loving kind funny smart witty woman she is here. Okay, with that out of the way[;)]... I think I am the same offline, I actually am more reserved here for fear of modspanks and general "self-edit" mode. With my friends I tend to be the entertainer, the one that says the off color, sarcastic, sardonic things that no one else will. I am politically outspoken like here, will not hesitate to defend someone that I feel is being unjustly picked on, love to sometimes shock people, and if I have an audience...lol. It's like Dennis Leary with breasts.[;)]. I also like my quiet alone time, and I don't ever see myself as one of the people that I see here that can really lay our their personal lives bare for all to see. I absolutely don't mean that in any kind of way, good or bad, I just don't operate that way. Even in my offline private life, I am a bit of a fortress that way until you get to know me, and even then, I keep the painful, difficult or dark stuff to myself. I think a lot of extroverted people are that way, at least in my experience. I just don't share intimate details of my life with but a very few people. It's worked for me that way so far. I have things that my ex of 22 years wasn't aware of. Oh, and I like happy hour and high heels a lot.

I'm glad the topic is being so well-enjoyed. It would be interesting to hear if other people see us as we see ourselves (but that's a whole different thread I suppose). You know Icarys, I once did a workshop where people took a moment to say this to people: I see you as ___, ___ , ____. Only three words. Three adjectives. It was a moving experience! I still have that list somewhere back home. I thought about doing that - people giving feedback or folks just saying three words about themselves, but it seemed too restrictive and not appropriate for this venue. May I suggest, though, that it is quite an interesting idea... perhaps emailing people with that kind of feedback. Hmmm... I must think about that. Maybe I will just send a snail mail... oooooooo... or make art.... hey that's a ... Ohhh I got distracted. best, sunshine

In some ways i'm the same in person as i am online, and in some ways i'm different. i'm very caring, submissive, and nurturing in person, but i'm also outgoing, strong, and funny - i'm very submissive as a slave, but i don't really have a submissive personality - even though my submission comes through very strongly much of the time. i'm one of those people that when you meet and feel my "energy" it makes me a bit different from my online persona. Not entirely sure how to capture that. i'm also more outgoing and outspoken in person - and if i've brought you into my "circle of trust" (which is small because i need it that way) i will open up a lot more with my thoughts and opinions. i'm always walking that line of public vs. private online - i don't share much private information.
