I have great admiration for their stance on individual liberty

Some of them actaully have some cool shit in the giant piles of junk they call their yards.

Oh, see.  I like this one the best.

Libertarians want the opportunity to take care of themselves without the government intrusion.

Most libertarians want the government to legalize and decriminalize marijuana and most other drugs.  A very special few have a capitalist streak and want to see marijuana turned into a cash crop and taxed like tobacco.

I feel like you're stalking me, dear.  It's quite amusing, really.  The point I was trying to make is that most/all libertarians believe in very little if no government involvement in their lives.  I can appreciate and respect that.

I also feel, in my own personal libertarian heart, that the government spends far too much money on prisons and drug crimes.  If we legalize marijuana (which I don't smoke; I don't even smoke cigarettes), then we can try to push down the national debt by cash-cropping it as well.  Win-win?

I find it amusing that you reduce the Libertarian movement down to drug legalization... it is much more broad than taxes or drugs and the legalization of them. If you read this thread you might get some clues about how broad Libertarianism is and the different factions within the movement...

Oh for the love of the flying spaghetti monster would you stop making these leaping assumptions...PLEASE.

I didn't reduce the libertarian movement to shit.  It said pick two.  I picked two that I thought were appealing for one reason or another.  The lack of government involvement because I don't support big government.  The legalization because it's a good way to bring in revenue to rebuild this country.  There are numerous other reasons why the libertarian party is so awesome.  I didn't realize you felt the need to pick everything apart.

I didn't say I was opposite to government or that I wanted big government.  I think it would be a wise idea, IF we legalized it, to make money back from what we've lost on prisons and everything else and try to bring down the national debt.

A hundred posts and feels he`s being stalked....

Maybe pot does make some people paranoid.

I don`t care about legalization of drugs. That might not be the best route, considering meth, coke and heroin.

I just don`t want folks losing their liberty soley over drug use. That is incredibly wasteful and counter productive.

IMO,decriminalization is best.And treating abusers should be a medical issue,not a corrections/jail issue.

Welcome to the boards, young man.

Well, she's been following me through three different threads.  It's kind of amusing.  I don't really think she's stalking, though.  It's just kind of cute.  ^_^

Young woman.  Daddy lets me play on Our account.  I don't smoke pot though.  I spend a lot of time behind a knife, and being stoned would result in very bad mistakes.  Thanks for the welcome, though.

I don't think it should be criminalized at least.  It's such a waste of tax-payer dollars.

-Laughs.-  I don't mean to mince words here, but I could easily make a list here.  I just picked the first two that popped into my mind after about two hours of sleep.  LOVE insomnia.  ^_^

I see you've met our dear Julia, Asmoda. Yes. She stalks. You'll also find her standard approach in any discussion as the first quote in her sig-line.

Have fun!

Yes, I am speaking as an American, about American politics. The American left is about central authority and large bureaucracy even though most American liberals think it's all about "tolerance". As for your commentary on Marx, what he thought is immaterial, ultimately what he gave the world was a formula for tyrants to put a happy face on tyranny. (You know what they say about good intentions.)

Your understanding of the american left seems to come more from rush than marx. Perhaps you might want to actually read marx before you try to critique him.
As for libratarians what I have found is that for most of them the only part of ayn rand they read was the part about personal liberty and none of the part about personal responsibility.
