ORIGINAL: MissAsylum there has been a recent string of events that has me very concerned. i had breakfast this morning with a regular client of mine who has also become a friend, and he was shaken badly by his first time expiernce with a male dominant. long story short, the dom tried to force my client into sawing off one of his legs(the right one specificly) because he was into people with missing limbs. i know that is a fetish, but i thought i applied to those ALREADY missing a limb, but this dom wanted the honour of removing my client's leg himself. also, i recieved a message from somebody who said that he has an extreme kink. he said that he is going through some medical problems and would pay somebody to sexually abuse him and torture him before they kill him. these this really concerns me since these things are playing with human life, something that i believe should never be messed with. do you think BDSM is being used as a cover-up for being mentally ill? Very narrowly, I can see what you are asking but the bigger part of my brain is going "Wha????" In the first case you mention, you have a submissive who ran into a dominant who...possibly...was into extreme mind games and the fear that they can create. Given the reaction of your submissive friend, the dominant was successful. ORRRR, it is possible that the dominant is a kook. But the fact that he uses BDSM as a "cover" for his crazy behaviors does not make BDSM the new codeword for crazy, anymore than the fact that Ted Bundy chose to use the cover of being a clean-cut student and then, political worker make college student or political worker the codewords for crazy. It's been noted on here before that you are going to find nutcases in any walk of life. While some of the things we do can seem crazy to the outside world, that is their perception. Hell, some of the things I've seen done or have heard about in what we do seem crazy to me but at least I have the background and the sense to stop and think that all may not be as it seems in a world in which "smoke and mirrors" are used to great effect to enhance various situations. Some do not because they do not have the ability to think things through and/or they lack any firsthand knowledge and, because they ARE a nutcase, they THINK that there is someone out there who "gets into" what they do/want. I've been at it for 12 years now and have yet to meet any of them though...
