~FR~ In my short life, i've gotten so many different types of race hate spewed at me, I'm surprised that i don't take part of that stupid reverse rascism crap. I get it from family members constantly. They see me as a muddled down version of what they are. The caucasians have called me black and dirty, the dominicans won't speak to my face, but delight in calling me a nigger, and the hatians call me (in a polite way) "high yellow" when i'm not tan, and say that i think i'm too good to identify as black. i've gotten into a few physical confrontations as a result. I don't identify as black because I'm not. I don't identify as African-American, because I'm neither. I also don't call myself white or domincan because i am not made up of just one of those things. I have a name and according to Domiguy, I'm beige. And i'm just fine with that. so no Jen, you are not a racist. "Black" is just a label and should be treated as just that. Nothing more.

See...living in Florida, formerly in Detroit and Philly (west Philly no less), I see some of this shit. That a great deal of racial tension exists within the umbrella of "black".

My ex was a tad darker than you but her whole family called her "yella" cuz they were all darker. I don't get that either. I mean I get the whole purist bullshit I know where it comes from but I don't get why it still exists given the history of racial problems in the US.

What's your take?

In advance, my take is that it goes back to some tribal need thing that still exists in many countries as a means of power. Like a hard wiring. So now that there's laws granting equal protections and for the most party daily attacks are down and no one is trying to take those protections away...it's time to get the territory markers out and start creating racial boundaries within the minority. I dunno...I don't know if I even believe what I just typed...it's just an unfinished thought that's been floating around in my head.

No, actually what you can do is go back and read posts numbered 44 and 51. Mine and yours. You'll find that I did refer to my own experiences as a member of the LGBT community and the resulting broken nose.

What I find interesting is that you refuse to acknowledge that a white kid got their ass kicked because they were white by a bunch of black kids. If that's not racism, what the fuck would you call it?

boi

No, I am not saying it can't happen at all. I didn't say that.

No you just said it was "comedic" that a white person could claim to experience such things.

And if you deny it, you should go back and read your own posts.

I think I'm done replying to you because now you're back peddling like a duck in distress and the intelligence has left your posts.

What would lead you to think such a thing?

You need mentoring. Bring those holes to Chicago and we will mentor you up and down!

We will get all jiggy with it!

Are you really insisting that open carry is the issue?

You're really quite funny when you pretend to be stupid, Ken. And the squirming to change the subject... delish!

How about actually explaining how someone can feel threatened by a weapon they don't know is present?

People get killed by cops all the time because the cops thought they were reaching for a weapon the cops couldn't see. As a matter of fact many states have laws specifically protecting police from prosecution over such incidents so its possible for well trained LEO's to feel threatened enough to use deadly force by weapons that don't exist much less can't be seen.

Then it wouldn't be concealed, would it RML?

The point I was making was the companion case to the Black Panthers.

The minuteman involved was openly carrying.

I don't know about you but I believe someone with his hand on a gun strapped to his leg is at least as intimidating as someone carrying a nightstick.

Owner59 -> RE: I am not a racist. (7/14/2010 8:22:56 AM)

The racial divides within the black community is a dirty secrete.But not un-known if you have real connections with black people.

There is competition between shades of black and over racial mix.

Some get hammered for being half white.Some get hammered for being half black(from white bigots mostly,but also from the black community too).

Non American blacks,Caribbeans and African immigrants are looked down upon by many black Americans.So are educated,well spoken blacks.It`s nutty.There are almost to many ways that the community divides itself.It`s just one of the many social diseases that affect predominantly black Americans.

The irony is that folks who suffer the most prejudice ,also have a lot it going on within the community.It`s not unrealistic to think folks who`ve been abused for centuries will pick that up and reflect that within the community.

MissAsylum -> RE: I am not a racist. (7/14/2010 8:25:04 AM)

from what i know jen, the division within the black( i wish i had another word for that) community comes from the "paper bag" theory. there supposedly was a time(hence "theory")where black sororities did not certain women in because they were darker than a brown paper bag. if you are lighter than the bag, its a higher chance that you are mixed and you have better attributes, hair being the biggest one. that is also where the phrase "good hair" started. the skin/hair thing has given some an arrogant nature and has made some resent others that may be lighter and have a different hair type then they do. hence the animosity. its a sad thing really.

MissAsylum -> RE: I am not a racist. (7/14/2010 8:35:24 AM)

agreed. i get picked on for being mixed with the "enemy" aka caucasian(not a joke), which means i don't understand the struggle. i believe i understand it better than they do. i get resistance from every direction.they have a group of people they can feel automatically comfortable around. i dont have that luxury. we people stare, i have to wonder what is going on inside their head. it can be maddening and i hate it.

You call police about a disturbance, something you feel threatened by, etc.  If it makes you feel better that to cops came out, did a report, and went on their merry way, I see no problem here.  They're doing their job by aiding the public.  I also expect them to explain to those men that the behavior they're exhibiting is disrupting the peace/making people uncomfortable.  He was walking around with a friggin' nightstick.  I'd be a little unnerved and uncomfortable as well.

Would you be equally as unnerved by someone walking around in front of a polling place with his hand on a holstered gun?

I gave you the link earlier regarding testimony before the Civil Rights Commission, which you obviously did not read.

In the Arizona minutemen case the circumstances were far more egregious and no prosecutions resulted because it is very difficult to make a case based on voter intimidation.

My question is where was all the conservative outrage then?

From a November 21, 2006, Salon.com article:

On Election Day, a posse of three men in Tucson, Ariz., proved that the Wild West still lives.

The group, which was three strong, and allegedly composed of two anti-immigration activists, Russ Dove and Roy Warden, carried a camcorder, a clipboard -- on which, they said, was information about a proposed law to make English the state's official language -- and a gun.

While one man would approach a voter, holding the clipboard, another would follow, pointing the video camera at them. The third would stand behind, holding his hand to the gun at his hip in what activists on the other side called classic voter intimidation tactics in a precinct one local paper had previously declared the bellwether of the area's Hispanic vote.

- From a November 8, 2006, Austin American-Statesman article:

In Arizona, Roy Warden, an anti-immigration activist with the Minutemen, and a handful of supporters staked out a Tucson precinct and questioned Hispanic voters at the polls to determine whether they spoke English.

Armed with a 9mm Glock automatic strapped to his side, Warden said he planned to photograph Hispanic voters entering polls in an effort to identify illegal immigrants and felons. The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund reported the incident to the FBI.

- From a November 8, 2006, Tucson Citizen article:

Volunteer election monitors say three men with a video camera and a gun were intimidating voters at various polling stations throughout Tucson.

From about 9:45 a.m. to noon Tuesday, the men approached Hispanic voters as they attempted to enter Iglesia Bautista Kairos, 4502 S. 12th Ave. in Precinct 25, said Diego Bernal, a lawyer with the Mexican American Legal Defense Fund.

(Black Panther Voter Intimidation: Minutemen Case Even Worse?)

If they were smacking it around in a very intimidating manner, then yes.  It would bother me, because I find that kind of behavior very confrontational.

In the Arizona case, I'd call the cops too.  I don't think it's appropriate for people to be carrying weapons to a voter site, whether they're white, black, purple or polka dotted.  Or all four.  O_o  Again, that kind of behavior is inappropriate.  They should have been punished for intimidating voters as should the two Black Panthers' members.  -Shrugs.-

Big fat juicy white cock....With credit!!!

Do you know to follow a developing argument?

Do you know how to not read into things? Be that feelings or intent?

I wasn't acting hurt...I invited you to further make an ass of yourself.
