It is entirely possible I am cranky today. :)

But there has also been a fair amount of sneering at people who might like it a little edgier.

I think some people are not seeing what is happening.

I agree to a degree that this lifestyle is getting so soft, I question why they would be interested in the BDSM Lifestyle, If fact I would wonder what the draw is when Bondage/Discipline/Sadomasochism is wattered down to what I see in some of these threads.

The problem is YKINMYBYKIO is that when someone says Your Kink is Okay, they then spend a good paragraph putting it down to such a degree that it becomes obvious that my kink is not okay with them.

When these voices are met with conflict they profane that they said whatever works for you, while under their breat they say "You sick fucking freak"

Guess what everything you can think of SOMEONE gets off on it. But this lifestyle DOES have a Past, It has a History, and it's History is based in Authority and Fetish, things many people were interested and knew wasn't a socially accepted idea.

I OWN my partner, If she wants to stay with me she will surrender to my will, I do not always care if she LIKES what I am doing, it is Our Relationship. AND IT WORKS. It is at times Violent, and Painful, and Controvercial..... but it is what makes us happy.

Anyone is able to do what makes them happy, even if that means that your "Master" only spanks you softly on Tuesdays and only in the bedroom with no Power Dynamic and you get to say No to whatever you want and tell him exactly what he is and is not allowed to do to you... You are WELCOME to DO whatever you want.... But *I* don't see it as BDSM and *I* don't have to address it as such.

You like slap and Tickle, you're Kinky and have a Fetish, but if you want me to accept you as being a Part of my lifesytle, if you expect ME to address you as such.... Then YES I want to see that you have a mild understanding of the History that started this Lifestyle in the first place.

I don't know if this is so much about "your kink my kink" as much as it's about a level of "extreme" being judged. Yes the softer ones judge the edgier ones and vice versa. No argument there.

I agree with you, about the oddities of recent threads, I sometimes wonder why a great many people who post on CM forums are even on a BDSM site.

I'd always felt that the the slave, (think her name was Jade?) and her Master shared a very loving and dedicated M/s relationship. It seems a shame that the positive information they compiled and shared is so greatly scorned today.

I have to admit to having scorned castle realm, but not for the romanticism aspects and those who enjoy them, but the fact that the whole "story" seemed phony to me and more of a marketing ploy. Of course I could be wrong, but that has been my impression.

That of course doesn't mean there is nothing of value to be found there; I suppose it's another case of take what you need and leave the rest.

Met Kolm and jade before she passed away they were some of the first people I met in this lifestyle.

VERY NICE PEOPLE...

Can't Market something you aren't selling. Castle Realm was free, and a Resource that was easily available when nothing else was.

It was Light and Fluffy..... because it was based on LOVE and not on Obedience. Everything they did was done with love.

Most of what was up on Castle Realm wasn't even thier stuff. about 80% of it was written by other people and posted in their Library.

I get Pissed when people put down Castle Realm.... I usually ask, And what have YOU done to offer a Resource for people asking questions in this lifestyle.... Told them to use the Search Button?

At Least they put themselves out there COMPLETELY and offered anyone who wanted something to learn from.

Granted and I can understand why when these terms are used to Exclude rather than Include... When someone says THE community or THE lifestyle it is easy to think they are comparing you to what they do.... when I use the terms In my head they are all seperate things but have a common interest.

Community is what it is.... It is the people you interact with. My PHYSICAL community as in my neighborhood is made op if all sorts of people I don't care for. I do not get to choose who is part of my community but I do get to choose what I do in the Lifestyle I choose to live.

When smaller groups get together and form smaller communities you will find there is a common connection.

It goes from City to Neighborgood to Group of Friends, to Common Interests. each of these carry a community of people.

I take a matter of fact view of these terms mostly because I see them used and rather than argue a point they aren;t making I just accept that they must be refering only to thier own Lifestyle and the community they see around them.

It has been more than 12 years since I visted the site. I just remember the site kind of fondly. It was the first site I was directed to (as it was with many) when I first learned about BDSM. I wasnt' at all interested in a Master/slave relationship, but I was impressed by how she expressed herself and how happy they appeared to be together. I'm completely open to the idea that I was impressionable and probably projecting my own desire to find some relationship/romance redemption. But, I do remember the site fondly, and always feel slightly compelled to defend it for some reason.
