When I disobey I am punished. Not because I am being taught a lesson or being made to pay for my crime. I am punished because it allows me to let go of my own guilty feelings. For punishment or discipline to be effective my dominant has to know how I am going to process it. If he were to ignore me all the would do is make me angry. This is a relationship built on communication. When you ignore someone you are stopping the communication process plus you can be inflicting psychological harm. My dominant is the one person in the world I expect to be there for me. I have had enough of being abandoned in my life and would not tolerate that from him. Yes, I said "I will not tolerate". I am part and parcel of the relationship and if something is affecting me in a negative way I will make the choice whether I am going to permit it to happen. I believe discipline should be short and sweet so the parties concerned can move on. I have never seen the reason behind making the sub pay and pay and pay and pay for her negative behavior. After being disciplined there needs to be reassurance given to the sub that now the incident is in the past and she or he is still loved and cared for. That means the discipline will end on an upbeat note and the submissive can move ahead and leave the discipline in the past. For me, a lecture, followed by a spanking, and time to reflect <standing in the corner>, then apologizing to my dominant since it was him I had offended, followed by the crying and cuddling until I feel like I have released my own guilt, that is a punishment that works. Granted what will work for one may not work for another but I know what works on me. kat

katjira, i peeked at youre profile and im genuinely curious. when you state spanking in youre 'live for' section - how is spanking a punishment for you especially when you are also looking for a disciplinarian driven relationship. i can fully appreciate that a spanking can feel different under certain situations and it can be taken beyond normal endurance levels, but you mention short and sweet and you are clearly very specific about how you expect youre dynamic to be.

lally2 I'm not quite sure what your question really is but this is what I think you are asking about. How spanking affects me is dependent on context. If I know the spanking is for erotic purposes my brain can interpret it as pleasure. If I know the spanking is meant as punishment then my brain sees it as painful. Its something I call "flipping the mindset". kat

I've never been punished with anything painful, because I'm a masochist. My body responds to pain with pleasure and it can be kind of confusing. Even if I know its a punishment and what I'm being punished before. I'd have to say the single worst punishment I've ever received was from someone I met here. I had to sit on crumpled up tinfoil while have to really finely chop up a dozen onions. By the end of it I was incredibly uncomfortable and crying real tears, not just from the onions. He did that on purpose because he knew how hard it is for me to cry, and how deeply it would impact me. I then had to write a paper on my feelings about disappointing him. To say the least after that I never made the mistake I did again. It was a mentally excruciating punishment.

They also know that something must have happened because i'm not usually like that. I'm not a let's argue and yell type of kind of guy. If things get past a certain point I simply walk out. I come back and then she describes it as I have no emotions, i'm a robot, or it's like i'm not really there. I talk to her but it's extremely emotionless.
