No...it feels like theve actually started to learn that socialist policies are unsustainable and that catering to the lowest common denominator in their society is a cancer that they have to eradicate. I will answer the OP's question with pesonal experience. I applied with the Dept of Natural Resources in the FL keys as I was getting out of grad school in Marine Biology. After meeting with the folks, the interviewer looked me right in the eye and said "You are the most qualified entry level candidate I have seen in years but I cant hire you because of your race, this job is tied to affirmative action." I even went so far as to call a black friend that I had gone to school with to tell him about it but he had already taken a position in Seattle (near his home) That guy was the ONLY black biologist I have ever known. The job went unfilled. The bottom line is this. If a person is denied a job because of race, the program is RACIST.

How many Blacks were enrolled in Marine Biology grad courses nationwide the year you graduated? Not many I would bet. Can you spell s y s t e m i c racism? AA was an historic effort to reverse 100 years of Jim Crow segregation. So, a few of the privileged class were deprived. I could tell you a similar story but i just shrugged and went on with my life. There were plenty of opportunities for us white dudes. I imagine you found yours. The work is not finished imo. But nothing is perfect.

I have not read all of the replies, but I will say that I beleive that there was a time that AA was needed, but that time is past. At this point in our history, we need to eliminate all references to race when making decisions.. about anything. I am from a place that was mostly white. Some minorities but very few black people. The local plants would hire any black person on the spot because they had to. (within reason, they still had to pass physicals and drug tests) They even asked these few people if they knew of others that would like a nice plant job..becuase they really had to. My sister married one of these people offered a job, so that is how I know. I feel this way about unions too...!
