Section 411(d) of PRWORA permits States to expand alien eligibility
by providing State or local public benefits to illegal aliens. But this
may occur only if the State enacts a law after August 22, 1996, that
affirmatively provides that illegal aliens are eligible to receive (all
or particular
) State or local public benefits.

http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/ofa/law-reg/finalrule/tanfru_2.htm

I dont believe Butch indicated the parents were ever eligible, but stated they got it through their legally born children. Note the above. TANF can be made available to illegal aliens per their final ruling;

That's the problem, if you're going to "give" them something, anything, they're going to take it!
You don't "give" them anything!
It's like feeding a stray dog, pretty soon other stray dogs show up and after a while they aren't gratefull for your largess they expect it and start snarling when it isn't given.

Gee slave Mike, "babies a threat?" What kind of question is that?
Damn, I seem to have missplaced my *Left-Wing Decoder Ring* around here. Perhaps the cat took it and is playing with it somewhere.

Just a slight hijack…

I believe I am average in my political outlook.

I started out not giving a shit about politics

As I accumulated responsibilities such as a house and family I became more conservative…worried about taxes and making ends meet.

As I got older and wiser I moved more to the middle with a left lean…I now worry about the social net I distained in my 30’s thru 50’s and take a softer view on the less fortunate…I still worry about taxes and making ends meet but I understand some taxes are necessary.

I searched for political affiliations by age and most sites I found validated my beliefs.

So even thought the quote may not be Churchill’s it still makes sense in reality…on average anyway.

Butch

Joe don't take my posts as being against people just trying to make a living on this earth... I'm not... Just imagine how much more they would contribute to the US economy if they did not abuse welfare through the 14th amendment.

I am all for people legally entering the US to make a living AND to become citizens if they wish. But I am not for people to illegally enter this country with no intent on becoming citizens and taking advantage of our welfare system.

The data to date, seems to indicate, what I posted originally. If the facts, said however, that illegal immigrants are costing the state/federal system more money then they take in, I could agree (begrudgingly). It seems most of those who entered the country illegally had a DAMN good reason for doing so. Yes, a small percentage enter, whom are criminals, or planning on crime in the USA. I'm fine with prosecuting them.

But others, who have been in the country over three or four years, raising a family, have not been in trouble with the law since, and pay bills. Does that sound like the sort of person to deport? There should be a mechanism, to allow these people to become US Citizens. AFTER, they pay a reasonable fine of like $5-10K, and go through the steps like legal immigrants. Unfortunately, as any sane person, witness during the Health Care debate, the conservatives will try ANY method to distort and lie about the facts. Are you for US citizens to be in this country, with no intent on doing anything, and taking advantage of our welfare system? Last I checked, most illegal immigrants work REALLY hard, in deporable conditions, for very little wages, and sometimes at great risk of life and limb. Why dont you, mari49x, put your money where your mouth is, step up to the plate, and do the SAME work, they endure, day after day for the next decade. If you quit on any one date, you lose your arguement. If you can last the full ten years, and show with hard evidence....then you made your point.

The reason those illegal immigrants would vote Democrat is...

First off, illegal immigrants CANT vote in the USA. Only US Citizens, can do that. You would know that, if you actually READ the US Constitution. Here's a link to it!

they know the stupid Democrat party will give them everything they ever wanted without ever having to work for it .... AND ... be able to vote.

Let's put Sarah Palin up against Barrack Obama on a discussion of Constitutional Law. How badly would Mr. Obama, who is a Constitutional Lawyer, do against, Sarah Palin, that apparently doesnt know much about the laws of the state/federal system?

Likewise, Democrats couldnt do this, even if they wanted to; its against the Constitution!

Nor have Democrats ever been in favor, of someone not working. However, unlike conservative Republicans, liberal Democrats seem to think on things. Some people, really have, legitimate reasons why they can not do certain types of jobs. Some just dont have the training, skills, or lisences for occupations beyond physical labor. Maybe, you have been living under a rock on the planet Mars for the past few years; here in the USA, the unemployment rate right now, is rather high.

Your going to try to convience me, that you know each and every individual's past history, since before they came to the USA (illegally)? Well....You have the Burden of Evidence to come up with to make your arguement valid. To meet the requirement, as you believe, know of their past histories; would be like a Christian proving to an Athesist that God does exist. With....Scientific evidence!

Really? Alot of the suspected population of illegal immigrants, are actually citizens of Mexico? Again, you have the burdern of evidence to present; As the real facts are much different. Do you mary49x, REALLY, have a problem with what someone else does with their money? If so, you would have a problem with how US citizens, handle their money. Which in turn, would mean, you, yourself would have to have, the objectively perfect financial statement. Are you REALLY making more then 38% return on your investment portfolio? No debt beyond that, easily paid off? And saving over 14% of your income (and hence, not included in your original investment portfoloio)? A credit rating of 850? In other words, living well below your means, successfully? I seriously doubt it.

Besides, have you ever given money to love ones, or charity? If you say 'yes', your a HYPOCRIT!

GET REAL ... of course the common sense Republicans do not want them here illegally.

Republicans? Common Sense? In the same sentence? And one concept being equal to the other concept?

If that was true, the guy in the White House right now, would be Presdient John McCain. Congress, would be held (House & Senate) under Republican control. Last I checked, neither of those are accurate, fortunately for America. And the reason is quite simple. The Republican party does not use common sense, but fear, intolerance, ignorance, and hatred. They're philosophies have been debunked by time, economics, and reality. They have ignored facts in favor of fantasy. They have generated complete lies in the face of total truth. They believe its 'wrong' for a president to lie about adultry, but 'right' to lie about going to war. The Republicans, frankly, have ALOT to owe up to, and take responsiblity. Unfortunately for them, being irresponsible, seems to be a hallmark of their party. Need some evidence?

Al Franken (D-MI) recently gave a historical accounting, that is spot on accurate. A good 30 minute history lesson of the federal budget. Text Version of the same speech. I want you, Mary, to put the best positive spin (i.e. try to lie), that Republicans, since Ronald Reagan took office, have common sense.

Oh, you dont understand the REAL reason, conservatives are so 'up in arms' about illegal immigrants, do you?

According to conservatives (and take this with a grain of sand against the Sahara Desert...), by 2050, the number of Hispanics, or close to Hispanic decent, in the United States of America, will over take the 'white' population, and become the majority race. Sounds like the sort of thing the racists in the Tea Party would be alarmed at right? Get's better...

According to the Congressinal Budget Office (cbo.gov), the Goverment Accounting Office (gao.gov) and other federal/state institutions, its predicted based on statistics, that for every five immigrants that enter the USA, from 2000-2050, 4 out of 5, will register as......(drum roll).....Democrat! Not surprisingly, conservative talk radio, Fox News, and all the other idiot conservatives (i.e. Sarah Palin, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, etc), keep adding fuel on to the fire. They want to curb immigration, not for the good of the USA, but for the good of the Republican Party. It is actually listed in many of the conspiracy theory websites (I'm sure others could present examples), that conservatives frequent.

The real truth, is more likely, all together different. But when has truth and fact, stopped conservatives from believing total lies?
Don't for a minute think that the phrasing of my question indicates a lack of actual understnding of what is driving the hysteria.....Just holding up a mirror for the conservatives.
We all know what it is about......fear.Plain and simple, fear of the future demoraphics, fear of what voting rolls will look like.....and ultimately fear that the present majority might just wake up one day and find itself a minority in it's "own" country.
I think its amusing.

I was on the impression you had one of two thought processing going:

A) You really weren't understanding where the history of the fear comes from
B) You had some peices, but not other peices of the puzzle. Like you were throwing out a line, to see if any 'conservative' fish nibbled, with some hints to the answer. Kinda of like the board game of 'Clue'.

I was trying to give you, the history, as much as I understand it, so far. So 'No', I wasn't trying to rail your words. I would only add, its not fear, but ignorance and intolerance, that fuels conservatives on the issue of 'illegal immigration'.

Mike, save Spain look at "Hispanic" countries. In case you hadn't noticed many of the inhabitants in those countries are trying to get *out* of those countries.
Why would anyone in their right mind want the U.S. to turn into a "Hispanic" country?
And if we don't start strictly enforcing our laws your scenario is unfortunatly going to play itself out and we'll be a third world country in 2050 and that's supposed to be a "good" thing to ....."The Left?"
It's not bad enough that we're saddling our grandchildren with choking debt and rationed healthcare, let's bring the third world in to steal anything that's left, make the U.S. like Mexico, corruption from stem to stern drug gang killings in every city and town throughout the land? You're turning into an Anarchist!
That's what "The Left" wants? (And I don't mean you LIBERALS out there.)
Gee Mike, did you forget "hoards of locusts?" What other trevails can you conjure up for the "hated people of the future?" A couple of plagues maybe? You want to see caos?
I won't be around in 2050 unless I live to be a hundred but I hope the people living here then are doing well living in peace and harmoney and no more wars.
The Norwegians in WW2 had a good term for people like the Democrats who jumped to their feet and aplauded Mexico's president Calderone as he insulted our country, our laws and one of our states like a bunch of screeming schoolgirls at a Jonas Brothers concert, "Quislings."
And Josef Stalin had a good term for "The Left", "Useful Idiots."
Why are the people on the left so *bitter*? Was it something in their childhoods, some shared trauma?

That beeping is the semi trailer full of illegals that ,as we "speak" is about to back up over your xenophobic ass!

"Today an elderly white man was hit by a truckload of illegal aliens. He survived with minor injuries, unfortunately the farm workers were in a vehicle not designed to carry human beings that had no restraints, so when it flipped they were all instantly killed. The elderly man, goes by the name of popeye said in an interview 'Hey, I was just doing my part to save this country from left wing illegals that prowl around like stray dogs""
