I'm new here and quite overwhelmed with messages begging for My time.  I'm wondering what everyone else requires before they talk to a would-be submissive.  At this point, I have decided to require a photo (face and body) as well as a detailed list of their taste in books and music before I even consider giving them any of My time.

First off, welcome to CM. :)

Second, it's difficult to say what I "require", but I do greatly prefer a little bit of an introduction by them, and a semi-complete like/dislike list.  I really don't want to get into a conversation with a potential sub and be talking with them for a while, becoming very interested and come to find out "Oh, I LIIIIVE for scat.", or "I'm a staunch, right wing, ultra conservative." What a waste of time.

I also require them to be coherent and at least seemingly intelligent.  The ablility to complete full sentences and not use text speak is 100% necessary.  "Hi, how R U?  I want 2 b ur slave."  That's an automatic NO, delete and block.

Thirdly, your picture... damn.  You're hot!  And that's coming from a gay man. ;)

EDIT:  To add -
Hahaha.  I just realized my icon as well (just recently changed it).  *facepalm*

Actually, when you sign on you get buried in messages, mostly copy and paste jobs, so once you eliminate those, less work, then after a few weeks it will get much better...

I don't set criteria-I reply to anyone who says something that clicks, and I ignore those who don't. The makority of mails you get will be from idiots who haven't read your profile, so putting criteria in your profile text won't actually reduce the volume of mail you get by much.

In all honesty a lot of subs are so ground down by the fake profiles here that I doubt a demand for detailed lists would go down too well-you might lose out on some awesome but jaded people that way.

It gets better when your name drops off the New User list, I promise :-)

Letter needs to mention something in the profile text, and be properly spelled and punctuated.  I have a couple of geek in-jokes in the profile, such as "if you know how to recognize a king..." And a basic level of politeness towards me with signs of self-respect and self-worth referring to hirself.

I don't "require" so much as just go with my instinct. As long as the person is polite, seems moderately educated, friendly, and entertaining, I am willing to listen.

Wow, you sound very high on yourself. You'll fit right in.

Anyway, I require nothing at all before being willing to speak with someone. Apparently my time isn't worth the same amount (of what?) that yours is. I'll speak with anyone who is being honest and sincere with me. A photo and some kind of profile would be nice, but if they've read my profile and believe there's some reason to contact me, I'll certainly hear them out and reply, no problem there.

I think the gender disparity on sites like this is unfortunate, because it allows ridiculously pompous attitudes to not only survive, but flourish. "You're not worthy of speaking to me", "write me an essay about why I should listen to you", and other such sentiments are really unfortunate.

Nice costume btw.

Yeah spelling and grammar mistakes are an instant dealbreaker.

Now, I can understand some of the simpler mistakes.  Not properly using prepositions and prepositional phrases.  God knows I'm horrible with those myself.  Misuse and abuse of commas.  Again, something I'm notorious for.  I abuse the hell out of commas, quotes, apostrophes and brackets.  Typos, they happen.  Run on sentences, I'm truly one of the kings of the run on sentence.  I can be forgiving of honest mistakes, and don't ask anything of anyone else which I don't ask of myself.

What gets to me the most, aside from text speak (I'm not counting LOL's, emoticons and things such as that), is people who don't even seem to have a third grade grasp of the language when it comes to homonyms.  Is it really that difficult to grasp the difference between "they're", "there" and "their", or "hear" and "here", or "your" and "you're"?  That right there will instantly get me ignoring someone as well.  You're over 12 years old for gods sake (not YOU specifically... although I'm sure you are, but the general "you"), mayhap you should spend more time educating yourself on basic English, and less time on a kink website.  Just saying....

On a serious note, how about you write abit about yourself and your interests. Debasing men is great fun and all, but if you want people who can relate to you, maybe you have to share something?

If you provide only an idea or fantasy as your profile, you're going to get replies from lots of people who have nothing in common with you. They relate only to what you give them, in this case a fantasy.

As far as language goes, I type like an idiot, cuz that way no one notices me while I concoct my plans. Also as far as grammars go I have went to my grammar and she said I don't need to apostrophate things ever ever ever.

On second thought, it's alot easier to demonstrate that I am simply silly and not idiotic in person.

It sounds like a lot of work for a first conversation and I would never send my pic to someone online that I don't know. Personally, if they are not rude little assholes, I talk to them. If they are, then I don't.

Oh, well, of course he's pretty awesome.  He's Canadian.  They seem to have gotten pretty good at not generally growing idiots. :)  Maybe we in the states should figure out what kind of science is in that poutine and tim horton's coffee that makes people tend to be intelligent and polite.

So, in general, a submissive should have good manners & be polite, have a grasp of grammar & the English language, NOT use textspeak, and say something about his/her vanilla interests (and maybe political leanings). Oh, and a picture would be nice. That makes sense to me.
