everyone knew that bad as Saddam was, he was no friend of Islamic terrorists and never helped them and wasn't a threat to the west. Everyone who takes a slight interest in politics knew Rumsfeld and co had written about invading Iraq before 9/11.

The evidence of contact between Saddam and Al Qaeda has been out there for some time. From a July 18, 2005 article in The Weekly Standard ("The Mother of All Connections" by Stephen F. Hayes & Thomas Joscelyn):

Now you have seriously looped the loop and gone into fantasy land. Even Tony Blair had to admit there was absoluely no evidence of Saddam being linked to Al Qaeda and believe me, he wouldn't have said that if he had the least bit of evidence to the contrary.

The pro-Iraqi war constituency has not been able to produce one shred of credible evidence to say Saddam had any links to terrorists.

As for WMD, when Colin Powel presented the dossier of evidence that Iraq had WMD to the UN, the embarrassment on his face was obvious for all the world to see. I bet he curses Bush for having him go through that farce.

Oh. And there was contact between Saddam and Rumsfeld. Now who was it that supplied all that military help to Saddam? Er..er..oh..the USA!

Are you using a random essay generator to write your posts that hinges around the words "straw man", "unpatriotic", "anti-American", and "attacking"?

Don't tell anyone.

Seriously, though, the point where you begin to patronize me and treat me with condescension is the point where this argument ends on my part.

I didn't pattronize you. I took you very seriously. But I thought you mischaracterized what I was saying and were avoiding the hard issues.

If you have nothing better to do than attack those you don't agree with, then it's time for me to bow out of this thread.

I haven't been attacking everyone who disagrees with me. Sorry if I offended.

meatcleaver, don't you ever get embarassed?

I think I've sufficiently proven that you're anti-American and will support just about anyone and anything that will hinder or hurt America. You will support vicious dictators and terrorist-supporting regimes. It doesn't matter to you, as long as they're anti-American.

Don't you ever get tired of using an essay generator as someone else suggested? That's what it really sounds like. Pure mechanical rote.

Every time I read something you've written I am uncomfortably reminded of  Joe McCarthy for some reason. Post after post on these boards all you've seemed to accomplish is to personify the "Ugly American"

Bash me all you want. This has gone for eight flippin pages and you just don't wind down. You didn't even begin using the word "mendacity" until you picked it up from someone else's post (whom you also trashed).

Damn. Guess you can learn a few new words to toss into your diatribes even from people you obviously think are stupid. I just may be forced to use that "block" button for the first time. Aren't you proud of yourself?

If you read my posts, I have said that I don't think the USA is worse than any other country and neither do I think it is better.

If you were French, German, British, Russian or whatever and made the OP I would have done the same because the opening post implies an insult to every other country on the planet. I'm not anti-American so much as anti bullshit.

You haven't answered my last post because you can't.

Exactly, sometimes it's just a fixed look in the eyes, stand up, hook up, stand in the door and do what needs to be done.

Thank you so much for your support. Sorry I couldn't be entertaining enough for you. I'll try harder next time, Ma'am. The essay generator needs a tune-up but the shop is closed today. I do tend to say some of the same things -- because people keep posting the same things. I'm kind of anal that way.

I'm sorry, I can't diagnose that over the Internet. I suggest you seek professional help.

Which you define as someone who doesn't take shit from people who attack this country and is willing to argue about it. You know, that is ugly -- your implicit definition, that is. You really ought to think about why you have that attitude. I guess if a reader can't think logically, only the emotional content of the words would come through. Is that your experience?

How dare I. Sorry I violated the rules. Um, was I not allowed to use the word at all after somebody else did, or was I forbidden from trashing their post if I used it. Sorry, I always forget that part.

You are fucked in the head, meatcleaver is dead on. Just b/c you can't out argue him on the facts doesn't mean you can pin the anti-american label on him.

Thanks for the brilliant post. I just pinned that label through the chest of that dictator-supporting, terrorist-tolerating, America-hating ah, contributor.

Sorry you don't like people supporting the United States, cloudboy. I guess only people fucked in the head do that.

You handle disagreement real well, cloudboy.

This was discussed in the pub last night.

If anyone can name something you can do in America that you can't do in dozens of other countries I'll finally believe this endless, nauseating, boring, stupid belief that "USA is the best country on Earth".

The fact is almost all Western democracies are much more free than America has been or ever will be. (insert WWII comment here)

Right now, I'm about to walk 50 yards down my street and play roulette.  With my own money that I worked hard for.  I will probably lose.

But I love living in a country where that is MY freedom of choice, not my Governments.

Americans, stick to what you do best.  Eat a lot, wave a flag, bully small nations and behave like the fat kid at school that used to run around saying "I'm the best, I'm the best", while the rest of us cringed.  Your country sucks.  Go visit some others and see for yourselves.

Buh bye now.

Two things are disconcerting, about this post.

The first is that there is more than a bit of truth to it. I think people would like us better, if we stopped trying to force our way on everyone else: as in the spead of our political systems to places like Iraq. Perhaps Americans should only concern themselves with America, while Iraqis take care of Iraq, and the French take care of France, etc ...

The second is that after all the money American taxpayers spent on The Marshall Plan, and all the blood we let fighting in two European wars, we seem to have squandered so much good will from our friends in Europe. Sometimes it seems like a trillion dollars wasted.

Then again, perhaps posts like this are a clear indication of the mentality of some people ... those that want our help when they can't take care of themselves, and want our money afterwards.

It's a confusing situation to be sure ... but I think most Americans would be a little more willing to concern themselves only with events within our own shores, if Europeans paid back that trillion dollars.

Of course, then the poster wouldn't have his "hard earned money", to spend at the pub.

We spent that money on war widows and building memorials to the soldiers that died while we were waiting for you to stop yelping "it's not our war".

By the way caitlyn, good to know you obediently "inserted WWII comment here" as requested

WWII comment is the perfect retort to someone bashing us from a country we saved. Lousy retort to criticism, perfect retort to some asshole saying "your country sucks." I think the usual phrase in these situations is "saved your ass" so I'll use it: Yeah, we visited some others -- England, then France, then Belgium, then the Netherlands then Germany in order to save your ass. Some of us not only visited, but stayed.

Ummmm.  You came into the war so late you were universally known as "glory stealers".  You let your allies die for almost two years before you got your arses involved. Cool allies.

I would't want that kind of history on my hands.  You obviously would.

Anyways, I am so bored with this already.  Go talk to an American about America.  And then talk to them about America.  And then hold a conversation with them about America.

Then hold a party where you can talk about......you guessed it, America.

I wish you knew, but you don't, how boring you are........

I'm going to go upstairs and have sex with my boyfriend.  By the sound of you, Delight, you should probably do the same and take your mind off America for a wee while.

You have my word i'll never post on this thread again.........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Goodnight!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S I really am sorry to ordinary Americans I hope I don't offend you anywhere I never meant to

Pssssssst Needtouseyou, you're kinda cute

Hmmm, all negative and no explanations of what any of it is referring to. It might help if your not just wanting to jump in and bitch. If you

A. stated why the US is squandering the good it once had in your opinion.

Gee, I guess they don't cover this on Fox News... maybe reading a real newspaper regularly might help, like the New York Times, the Washington Post, even the Wall Street Journal. In a pinch, a magazine like Time or Newsweek might work.

From Merriam-Webster Online:
Main Entry: pa·tri·ot·ism

: love for or devotion to one's country
Simple and elegant. Nothing here that says it need be uncritical
Main Entry: chau·vin·ism
1 : excessive or blind patriotism -- compare JINGOISM
2 : undue partiality or attachment to a group or place to which one belongs or has belonged
Been seeing a lot of that lately....

That DM is precisely what gives many Americans and unfortunately because of them (Ugly Americans I believe they are called) the US a reputation of brow beating and boasting and trying to humiliate people from other countries.... If my memory serves me correctly, the US did not "Save" England but were a part, certainly due to logistics and man power, a vital part in the down fall of Nazi Germany. No one can deny the contribution which the US played both in Europe and in The Pacific.. You may like to remember, and remember humbly, the England stood fast through a lamsasting which would have broken most countries. The fielded many opperations gathering intelligence at the cost of many lives working with the French Underground and onand after the Invasion on a person percentage had as many soldiers fighting as the US. Don't forget that there were other nations who played a part in this too...
