Easier yet?  Say, are you some sort of whacko christian?  Whack a doo Whack a doo

No, but I am presumably descended from the Romans. Thus arguably part of my lineage has evolved during near two thousand years of Christianity. It is in my bones and blood, despite my fallibility. I live in Grace.

mnottertail -> RE: Islamophobia in America (8/25/2010 1:54:24 PM)

I live in Richville, and don't have a christian bone in my body, am circumcised and have never killed a woman.....

I am not a unique man by any stretch of the imagination.

Rule -> RE: Islamophobia in America (8/25/2010 1:56:13 PM)

Well, perhaps you live in Grace as well. [;)]

mnottertail -> RE: Islamophobia in America (8/25/2010 1:58:18 PM)

I am not overly clumsy.

At StrangerThan

All religions and civilizations have. I haven't said one was better then the other. I was poking fun at the hypocrisy of his statement. So try rereading my post.

I read it just fine. It is the same crock of shit statement that is always used to defend the religion most associated with violence in the world today, not to mention archaic treatment of women.

So how about some hypocrisy.

I'm not defending islam. All I am saying is that christianity has just as much blood on its hands. So proclaiming that converting is the answer is rather hypocritical.

Well I too am descended from the Romans. Half of me is directly descended from the Italians. So over a thousand years at least. Same with my dutch heritage. Nearly a thousand years there of christians or jews or pagans. Not sure. Probably christians.

Yet here I stand as an agnostic. Huh. So much for your "my ancestors had it so I must have it as well" theory.

I live in Norfolk, is grace nearby? Also is she hot?

I still find it funny that there is so much anti-Islam rhetoric in the news

I do not think it to be funny at all. I wonder what them who publish the news - and their masters - are up to when they support such rhetoric.

well, the Hmong do it, they are not muslim.

the honor killings are not a muslim thing per se, they are cultural.

Eating is cultural, too I suppose.

Whether Hmong honor killings are a matter of culture or religion is irrelevant (I have been told that their rite of "marriage by capture is religious, but in truth I neither know nor care).

The relevant point is that Muslim honor killings are religious, unless you define the Koran as only the origin of Arab culture, not the origin of Islam. (In truth it is both; as the architect of a complete theocracy, the Koran merges culture, religion, et al).

'Are You Muslim?' Question Leads to Cabbie Stabbing, Hate Crime Charge

A New York City cab driver was attacked Tuesday evening just after 6 p.m. by a passenger who asked him if he was Muslim, says the NYPD.

According to police, passenger Michael Enright, a 21-year-old from Brewster, New York, hailed a taxi at 24th Street and Second Avenue in Manhattan driven by Ahmed Sharif, a resident of Queens.

As the cab headed north on Third Avenue, Enright allegedly asked Sharif, who is of South Asian origin, "Are you Muslim?" When Sharif confirmed that he was Muslim, police say, Enright stabbed him multiple times with a Leatherman knife.

As I have said, Muslims have more to fear in the United States than any other religious group.

What faith do you think is more likely to encourage violence?

peacefulplace -> RE: Islamophobia in America (8/25/2010 4:25:37 PM)

Fast Reply--admittedly having read only the first couple of pages of the thread.

All religions are crazy, but some are crazier than others. I am not an "Islamophobe" (and who is, really, scared of Muslims to the point of being phobic??? As someone phobic about heights, I can tell you that dislike and phobia are two different things). However, one cannot deny that there is a higher incidence of "honor" killings and a greater oppression of women in countries with a clear Islamic agenda versus the countries that are not. Ask Saudi Arabian mullahs why they allowed girls to burn up in their school rather than appear "modestly" dressed, for example. The simple fact of the matter is that the basis of almost all religions is control of women, period. Some of them are just better at it than others.

Nothing said will convince you the answer isnt Islam, so why ask the question ?

Aneirin -> RE: Islamophobia in America (8/25/2010 4:36:11 PM)

The trouble is, America it seems is becoming Islamophobic and all that means, is yet more wars, more blood spilled in foreign lands, more terrorism you will keep at it until there is no more threat, but at what cost to your own people.

Isn't there a better way ?

Not all Americans are Islamophobic, just 46% of them, and evidently all of that number is on the right, and listen to Glen Beck, Fox News and Rush Limbaugh.

It was written by a left leaning type. So some bs is expected. Still a good article though.

Lets see, there are an estimated 1.5 BILLION Muslims in the world today. There are an estimated 20 thousand Muslim extremist terrorists. That is 0.00000133333333333% or 1/1millionth of a percentage point.

Now, what other religion promotes violence?

How about President Bush using god as a reason to invade Iraq?

quote:

God told me to strike at al Qaida and I struck them, and then he instructed me to strike at Saddam, which I did, and now I am determined to solve the problem in the Middle East. If you help me I will act, and if not, the elections will come and I will have to focus on them.
-- George W Bush

Or what about the fact that the KKK and other white supremacist groups use Christianity to promote racist activities and violence.

Whether you wish to admit it or not, Truckinslave, ANY religious teachings can be perverted to promote violence.
