MR. PRESIDENT, I'M HEADED TO MEXICO

David M. Bresnahan

April 1, 2006

NewsWithViews.com

Dear President Bush:

I'm about to plan a little trip with my family and

extended family, and

I would like to ask you to assist me. I'm going to

walk across the

border from the U.S. into Mexico, and I need to make a

few arrangements. I

know you can help with this.

I plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas,

passports, immigration

quotas and laws. I'm sure they handle those things the

same way you do

here.

So, would you mind telling your buddy, President

Vicente Fox, that I'm

on my way over? Please let him know that I will be

expecting the

following:

1. Free medical care for my entire family.

2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all

services I might

need, whether I use them or not.

3. All government forms need to be printed in English.

4. I want my kids to be taught by English-speaking

teachers.

5. Schools need to include classes on American culture

and history.

6. I want my kids to see the American flag flying on

the top of the

flag pole at their school with the Mexican flag flying

lower down.

7. Please plan to feed my kids at school for both

breakfast and lunch.

8. I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I

can get easy

access to government services.

9. I do not plan to have any car insurance, and I

won't make any effort

to learn local traffic laws.

10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does

not get the memo

from Pres. Fox to leave me alone, please be sure that

all police officers

speak English.

11. I plan to fly the U.S. flag from my house top, put

flag decals on

my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. I

do not want any

complaints or negative comments from the locals.

12. I would also like to have a nice job without

paying any taxes, and

don't enforce any labor laws or tax laws.

13. Please tell all the people in the country to be

extremely nice and

never say a critical word about me, or about the

strain I might place

on the economy.

I know this is an easy request because you already do

all these things

for all the people who come to the U.S. from Mexico. I

am sure that

Pres. Fox won't mind returning the favor if you ask

him nicely.

However, if he gives you any trouble, just invite him

to go quail

hunting with your V.P.

Thank you so much for your kind help.

Sincerely,

David M. Bresnahan

 Have a great one!!

Just curious. Which part of it is ignorant? Which part of it does not apply and which part is not accurate in a reverse sort of immigration context?

Interesting Perspective on Immigration

What some Americans perceive as humor, others perceive as slaps in the face.
Now, My perspective. Yes humor belongs in the humor section because the
Off topic area does usually mean a more serious topic is being discussed not
lifestyle related, but perceptions differ depending on the person. I will only make
four observations on the post, It WAS Americans who choose and voted to have
the rules in place concerning nonAmericans presance in the USA and what any
service here is used, not the nonAmericans. Stop blaming others for your own
perceived errors . Take out the word Mexican and insert poor white americans or
blacks and you will still have the same situation to address, none are any different, nor are.
people. Third, The Perspective is typical American Arrogance and shows when you feel that
any other country or people in other places outside the USA would be or have the same
ways that you do. They dont. Thats what makes the USA a super power over others and is
the humanitarian service Power that gives to the world when it opens its boarders to the masses
and assists those who cannot help theirselfs. Most cannot nor donot do what the USA does.
When Americans no longer desire to be such the people will change it. The reasons posted why
there is spanish and english posted most places now is because of simple math. By the year 2016
according to the census of the USA, the United States will have more spanish speaking people in
the country then any other group of people who speak any one language. Im sure if there were more
english speaking folks in Mexico the country would for sure have most anything written in english as
well for the majority of people in their country. That is  quite far from the fact there. Having said all this.

I'll admit I find it a little tasteless.  There are so many other factors to take into account... more than just the inconvenience that immigrants pose to our comfortable lives.  If this had been in the humor section, I might have laughed.  It's not, so I'm not going to treat it like a joke.  I have my problems with immigration, but it doesn't extend to discrimination, constant complaint, or rudeness.  I think the above post was too general to be effective, too stereotypical to be correct, and too flippant to be in good taste.

I'm not trying to start an argument, I simply think there were classier ways to get that idea across, if you're being serious.

I think (maybe I should say I would hope) that the problem isn't immigrants...... but illegal immigration.

While I agree with you that that is what the post ought to be about, the tone of the post appears to me to be somewhat different. There are valid issues to be discussed and people have the right to disagree but the post is somewhat distasteful. The subject deserves intelligent discussion.

Those who came to this country originally by boat were all illegal immigrants. America wasent a Country uninhabited and those who inhabited

the Americas were whiped out by the illegal immigrants who entered its shores
either by sickness brought to the land by ship or migration and war. Those same
decendants now wish to bitch, moan and complain about the current illegals however there would be no problem if there wasent oportunity layed open at their feet. Get Americans to work at the jobs only illegals do today and youll lose the illegals at the boarder who will have no reason to enter then. Most think that the illegals are working only in farming but I can tell you that they fill the Construction jobsites as well. How many Americans are able bodied here but gain some kind of Government subsidy or assistance be it with housing, food, money or medical help because they dont want to take a job perceived to be below them or in a field thats hard and manuel and hot? And dont give Me the excuse that you payed your taxes and deserve such items unless you are elderly and not able to work any longer or the truely disabled. And Ladies, I dont want to hear the excuse your a female or you have kids and cant do that kind of work cause thats not gonna fly with Me. And Men dont tell Me that You once had a job that payed you 25 bucks a hour and your not gonna do anything for less...... In the right to work states there are no unions and everyone regardless of experiance starts out doing any job at minumum wage. So either get sum pride and get your lazy 25 a hour ass up and work and be a productive person in society and America or expect that illegal to be there waiting in line to take that job you dont wanna do because of pride. Thats where the truth lies on Immigration and the realities and perspectives. JMO

I agree with the "get your ass up" and find a job aimed at those Americans that are lazy lol.... as for the "original" dwellers in the US... even they came from somewhere else. And the Europeans that settled here were not "illegal".

There are those working to find a reasonable way to deal with the illegal immigration problem, and I think that allowing those allready here, as long as they are not criminals (excepting being here illegally), and having them pay any back taxes deemed owed, and immersing them and their families in english classes, are good starters.

You'll have to forgive me. I already forgot about that as it was rather insignificant to me, as are you. I am however thrilled that you and your imaginary subs are amused. :) Have a wonderful day, lol.

Level actually Id say half of the illegals do pay taxes under eronious names and ssn and never collect on them. The Government simply collects the funds and does with it ????
