So a woman demands equal pay in the work force but demands to be paid for on a date.

What is your take? A forbidden topic of female privilege? Yet any shape or form of male privilege is an open topic?
Equality should EQUALLY concern both genders, right?

I do believe women should be paid the same as men when they are doing the same job. Why not? The days of men being the only breadwinners are long gone. As for men paying entirely for dates, well, I pay my own way. I don't want anyone thinking I "owe" them "anything" because "they paid for it." If I am in an established relationship, we may take turns paying. It all comes out in the wash, as the saying goes. There's nothing wrong with that either.

This is a forbidden topic? Maybe it is a UK vs US thing, since you are close to my age so it is not generational. I have, admittedly, almost never gone on a date in the way most people seem to, so I don't have that much experience. However, since most of the women I have been with tend to be better off financially than I they tend to be the ones who pay for things. Dinner, movie tickets, or what have you. The occasions I have money and they don't I tend to pay, but there's never been an assumption I would pay. I haven't heard this assumption from my friends either, male or female.

It's not a theory, I am asking for clarification.

I was on a coffee meet with a guy, who was PRESUMABLY trying to make a good impression on me. The check came, AS USUAL I got my wallet out, and he was THRILLED to take my money for my share of the ticket. That is CHEAPNESS.

If I ask someone out, I pay. I also have no problem splitting the check. It's also pleasant to be taken out. Tomorrow, I am out to lunch with a guy from the other side, and who knows who is paying? We didn't discuss it.

What is YOUR purpose in bringing up this discussion, which has already been beaten to death?

obviously you don't know the finesse of seduction. Seems to be a dying art. Sigh.

Call me traditional. I like when a man pays on the first date. It tells me he's a gentleman and knows the fine art of seduction.

And yeah..I still think women should be paid the same as men for the same job but that's just not the case just yet in today's world. Women are still underpaid.

If you don't want to pay on a date then just say so before you take her out so you both know where you stand. Maybe she'll surprise you and won't care. Hell my daughter thinks everyone should go dutch even on a first date. Not my thing and I shrug it off as a generational difference. Seems the younger generation have different dating etiquette.
