So you agree with the ACLU in this case, then? Aren't they part of the Conspiracy?

It wouldnt matter if the did past a law, allowing law enforcement to simply look at their leisure of all persons on perscription drugs. First, it would lead to an abuse of the system. Officers look plug in all the known celebrites, politicans, and enemies of theirs, to find out what sort of drugs they are taking. Then, secretly release that information to certain media sources (i.e. tabloids), who then turn those people's lives in to a living hell.

Second, its a violation of the 4th Amendment. No law made at a state level, may trump, an Amendment. Allowing officers to see perscription drugs of citizens not involved in a law enforcement investigation, is a violation of privacy.

Finally, even if such a law was past, and not in violation of the US Constitution, doctors would simply make modifications to their notes. Since a doctor's medical responsibility, is to their patient, not some police officer with a vendette towards their patient.

From the article......

There's a middle ground where the sheriffs and their personnel working on these drug abuse cases get the information they need in a way that protects the privacy of that information," he said. "No one wants every officer in the state to be able to log on and look it up."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!... yeah sure you can trust them.

I'm not sure there is a legitimate outrage here. I'd like to look in to this a little more, but I agree that I wouldn't want just any dipshit who wears a badge to have access to this information.

I may be wrong but I don't see how that info would help.

If you have a prescription you get that many pills for that length of time. How does knowing who gets them help?

Is the sheriff going to stop bye and count them every day?

How many patients have multiple Dr.'s writing multiple scripts?

Not enough to warrant letting law enforcement know what drugs I am being prescribed.

Jeff, what I'm saying is that I would like to get a little more information on what was being requested, the process by which private info would be obtained, who might actually have access to it, etc. The article was a bit vague and it generated more questions than answers for me. I'm not one to jump to conclusions and become falsely outraged over something that turns out to be not such a big deal afterall. I'm a little more measured in my reactions to these kinds of stories is all I'm saying.

At this point having gone without my medication for over a year and a half because I was stubborn and sick of being treated like a drug addict by the medical community that wouldn't check my records and just summed me up... I would welcome some examination of my life. I even told a doctor that if they all thought I was a drug addict, investigate.

I know, it is not right, but the whole system isn't right from the medical professionals to the police... I just want my medication, have nothing to hide and am tired of being caught between the criminal addict, the police and doctors. Just give me my medication. I want my life back. Even with rights, I have had none. What's the difference to some people? It is easier for an addict to get medication for unlawful or medical purposes than it is for those who seek relief already. I wouldn't mind a police officer seeing I really need assistance and validating when I walk I cripple myself. I would cheerfully smile and wave some thanks.

I know, some are trying to make it so the good guys don't get it because of the bad guys. The whole system needs an overhaul. My rights have already been taken, what do I care if someone else wants to take a few more? I just want my medication.

Just a personal commentary, not a judicial one.

the DEA controls things pretty well- for those who hit- multiple DRs.

This is the 2nd time the sheriffs want it.

I am not sure how it would help - seems like a weak argument.

30% of NC get a controlled RX.

So 1 out of 3.

2 of the 7 meds I am on- are controlled.    and you are correct- the DRs assume you are an addict if you ask for the RXs.

Some years ago- I was on 3 controlled meds- and at high doses.

People say they know what it is to have injuries- but unless they live the pain- 24-7 they do not know.   Not even close.

Luckily- my pain levels are more manageable now.

One wrong weather system- or one wrong move- position and it could be back to square one.

it's understandable though. the new "drug" now is perscription pain pills. they are bought and sold left and right. i dont worry about the pot head down the road anymore. i worry about the people with scripts that use their entire script in a matter of days and then search for more. it is rampant...more so than people realize. and they think because they have a script that everything is kosher. when in fact, they have a problem. not only that.... it is most times really good people that have the problem. people that otherwise would never harm a fly are spending off their families entire income to get that next pill. no... i dont make this judgment harshly. i think the dr's that perscribe it should be held accountable. for even if a person decides they want to come off those pills... their dr that gave it to them, doesnt help... they dont do "rehab" types of work. then that person is left having DTs which can result in much worse times...

and yes, though i dont speak from personal use, i have had a couple of people that i love dearly go through this. it is even more tragic than someone on meth... i say that because... it is a "legal" drug that even the average joe can get.

im sure i will get negative responses with this....it invades an individual's rights...etc. yeah....maybe it does... but some of them need invading. remember that the next time your husband, wife, gf,bf, friend..borrow money or better yet..take money to go get more pills. remember that when they are curled up in a ball cause they havent had a pill in 2 hours... pardon my language but it fucking sucks.
