It's a fucker, really. I like to think of women as Goddesses, but I still wouldn't want to be one. Not even one with a brilliant brain, superb tits, willowy legs and permanent youth.

This one line in particular speaks volumes for your bias and the women are naturally eating it up. Well you go Peon...I for one don't buy it for a second that a women takes all the risks. It's a bunch of hogwash as far as I'm concerned.

Icarys -> RE: The need to be rude?!? (10/10/2010 6:39:23 PM)

You asked if it was wrong to have a laugh at these guys expense and I told you what I thought. It's petty from where I stand. How would you feel if the shoe was on the other foot? Maybe that guy doesn't know any better..Maybe he thinks he's doing it right as far as he can see.

That's all.

That line isn't what made me "eat it up", for me, it was THIS line:

quote:

In the real world, a woman would avoid the sorts of places where thugs meet.  In that real world, they can size up a man from across the bar-room floor.  He swears a lot, says 'fuck' and 'cunt' every few seconds, he belches loudly - he's wrong.  She'll avoid him.  Here, though, in this new, virtual world . . . all those 'tools' that women have learned over the millennia that help them minimise their risks in choosing a mate - they're not available.  In virtual space, no-one can hear you belch . . . .

The whole difference between online and the real world.

And what do women do with emails that might remind them of the men who do those rude things that they would walk across the street to avoid? They ignore them. And for good reason.

And as I said, if they apologize after I point those things out to them, I'm totally fine with it and can even continue talking to them. IF they don't apologize and/or call me slut, whore, stupid bitch, cunt, whatever and tell me that Master is training me wrong and/or refuses to admit they did anything wrong, thus implying that even if he did think he did it right he obviously is unwilling to learn otherwise, then we have at the giggles and make fun of them all we want.

If the man didn't know any better, shouldn't he be willing to LEARN better?

The guy who raped my mom "didn't know any better" either. Should he be told it's okay not to know better and let to keep doing the things he does? Or should HE need to learn better?

Edited to add the last bits because I realized I wasn't done and didn't want to flood people with posts.

I'll do it in only a few lines.  I'll read her profile and say something that refers to it, hopefully interestingly and amusingly.  I can't do more because I learned the hard way that if my initial, long and thought-out, message gets ignored, I'll feel very low.  I can't help that because I'm a sensitive sort of bloke.

Me too. I learned to send short messages and nothing too "long and thought-out" for that very reason, also.

Whatever works for you..Including the laughter I guess..I just think the majority are missing the bigger picture.

It's true that a lot of people miss the big picture. There are... how many billion people on this planet? And there are always too few who understand the way things work, and there are even fewer who understand that things will always work differently for other people.

I react to rude, and very dangerous sounding emails with laughter, because it's a lot easier than being hurt and scared from those emails. Some react to those emails with fear, some react to them by not reading them at all so that they don't have to make a decision on whether they should be hurt or laugh at some of the atrocities that people send.

Just as you feel other people don't see the big picture, I have a feeling that you don't see that the picture is even bigger than what YOU see it as, and different for each individual, just as it is different for you than others.

I didn't say 'all' the risks, Icarys.

I went to some effort to point out how it can feel for a man, too - how it's felt for me, in fact.

Sure but you encompassed only a limited amount...the Goddess loving side.

Sure. I usually do that too..I like to gather people around to help me laugh as well. I'm sorry but that's a line of bull..Why not just accept that laughing at the expense of a stranger that obviously didn't send you a nasty letter..Just one you thought was stupid was you being petty and deal with it..unless you'd rather just look past that because that hurts too?

I'm sure you won't worry about it..Why I even thought that I could reach someone who thought that was funny to start with I don't know. People are who they are and rarely change. Again welcome to CM..Your going to fit in just fine.

Icarys -> RE: The need to be rude?!? (10/10/2010 8:05:02 PM)

I wonder really...How do people that are an otherwise intelligent group miss the things you do.

Twoshoes -> RE: The need to be rude?!? (10/10/2010 8:06:33 PM)

Well, I don't have a very strong "Goddess loving" side, but I managed to relate to his 'sensitive' side.

I said I like to think of women as Goddesses.  I didn't say they are Goddesses.  I'm pretty clear in my own head, anyway, of the difference between those two statements.

It's a bit ironic, really.  Here I am, a malesub, who can see the some of the fragilities in them that you, a Dom, can't apparently see.

I saw the semantic distinction Peon. I never believed you actually saw them that way in a  literal sense.

What fragility's...You mean those that we all have? I see that in all people including the ones that we are completely looking over..It's hard for me to be compassionate for a group of people that don't have any for another..This is evident by the comments on this thread...Not the end of the world nor does it make them evil but it surely doesn't mean it's nice either or something that should be swept under the table.

People are totally missing Sam's point or ignoring it so they can continue doing what it is they want. That's also Ironic when your talking about seeing inside where others can't.

In response to this, I am going to reiterate something that you obviously missed:
"And as I said, if they apologize after I point those things out to them, I'm totally fine with it and can even continue talking to them.

Sure, you CAN call it petty, and yes, in some ways it is. But what other reaction SHOULD I have to their rude, threatening email when they are obviously unwilling to learn? Should I be scared of their writing? Should I apologize because I'm obviously not a 'proper slave' since I'm not willing to fly out to wherever they are so that they can abuse me and brand me and have me fuck my children? Should I be, as you say, RUDE, and ignore them? Seriously, what's the RIGHT way to react to these kinds of emails?

And, where in the world did you get the impression that I laugh at the expense of strangers who DON'T send those letters? I don't laugh at people who don't send me nasty letters, those I reply to and have nice conversations with.

I'm surprised at how much you enjoy attacking people verbally who don't look at things the same way you do. But I guess you've fit in just fine too, and I hope other people aren't as narrow minded as you.

To answer all of your writing in black. You shouldn't do anything...You don't have to do anything. Just stand accountable for your own actions. I understand it can be frustrating.

Was that line above so hard to accept.

I'm not sure how long you've been around before you started to post. I've admitted my wrongs and in this case I'm sure you see it as an attack but you did ask the question..Maybe it was rhetorical from your viewpoint but it wasn't from mine and since I believe in standing up when I see something I think is wrong...I do voice my opinion. A lot of things in life could be looked at as subjective and in many cases I would agree but I also know that many use that as a way to justify the things they do.

Since you have stated that, in some ways what you were doing was petty by your own admission, I can't really be seen as someone who is attacking another for looking at things differently, could I.

No snark here: I appreciate that you did at least admit it. Many would not have admitted that they might have been mistaken, especially to me.

Edited for clarification.

samboct -> RE: The need to be rude?!? (10/11/2010 7:27:02 AM)

"It's been scientifically proven that women excel at deciphering human emotion and intent, they have to, they don't have the other physical advantages that men have, so they have to suss out a situation before involving themselves in it."

Sorry-but I think this one is going to go into the wastebin of discarded scientific theories in short order. Simply put, if being an asshat, wouldn't be a successful reproductive strategy- men wouldn't do it. Most male behavior around women has developed over time because it works at getting them laid. If it didn't work- at least some of the time, they wouldn't do it. Note- this doesn't mean that it will work most of the time- it's just enough to keep them trying.

Which brings me to the question of why some men, supposedly reasonable, might send a dick shot on this site to a woman they'd never met by way of introduction. Cynthia's post #84 got me to thinking- I know- a rarity on this site.

Speaking from the viewpoint of a reasonable guy- one with no particular axe to grind with women that would make me want to offend anybody out of the gate- who comes to this site for the first time- what do I do?

Well, start checking out profiles of course. I like looking at pictures of pretty women- what guy doesn't? And eventually it might dawn on me, that the women posting on this site may actually be for real, not some Penthouse fantasy which never seems to happen to me anyway. Once the initial shock and awe has worn off, I decide I might actually try to meet some of these women. Try a pick up line in a bar..."Hi- I'm Sam. Just checking things out." Send out a few of these- no response. Hmm, OK, maybe pickup lines from a bar don't work here. Maybe I should read some of these profile thingies and see if I get some pointers. Likes museums, long walks on the beach, yada, yada, yada- hell, this sounds like any other personal ad. Why bother when you're at a site where the ads are all showing these bimbos in lingerie holding a whip or being tied up? But maybe I'm not ready for some hardcore action just yet, so maybe I'll try one of these personal type ads. Or maybe I've done the one night stand bit, and I'm looking for a girlfriend who's also a bit kinky so we can try some stuff out, since my last girlfriend called me a pervert when I suggested she try it up the ass. "Hey Raquel (picking a name at random), I like walks on the beach too. Reminds me of that Rupert Holmes Pina Colada song. Don't you love fucking on a sand dune? I saw that you like to use a strap on. I'm not gay, but if I can take your ass, you can take mine..." No response to this one either. Or the next half a dozen sent out in a similar vein.

OK, the girlfriend type thing didn't work out- none of the people who had a personal like I'm used to seeing wrote back to me. This SUCKS big time. Lets keep reading some more profiles. Damn, another pro- no wonder that sounded good. Hmm, here's one where she's looking for a guy about my age for some kinky stuff that sounds like fun, oh yeah- MUST BE WELL ENDOWED! Well Nebuchadnezzar, you've never let me down yet- and all the normal type emails I've sent out didn't do any good- Buddy, you're on deck. At attention! Now let's see, nobody's responded to anything yet. It seems like you have to try a lot of people on this site to get anywhere. Let's just send shots of Nebuchadnezzar standing proud out, and see if anybody bites. What have I got to lose?

How's that for an explanation of how seemingly reasonable men begin sending out unsolicited dick shots? Yes, there are plenty of men who also do so out of anger or aggression, but like I said, rudeness begets rudeness. If "no response IS a response" is now considered reasonable behavior- why shouldn't guys try sending out dick shots since there are some profiles that do request a guy be well hung- and they're a sizable minority- it's a lot more than one in a hundred....

Sam
