I realize that this thread probably ought to die a natural death, but for posterity: If we've corresponded briefly in the past, particularly if the conversation died out, receiving no-content "good morning" messages is annoying. And, if you're sending them to everyone you've ever talked to, STILL SPAM. If we were talking and you want to say good morning, why not continue the conversation? If you've gotten to know me, it doesn't take a lot of text to strike up a conversation about a current event that I'm interested in, or send me a link that I might find cool, or ask me a question about something. The other day I spent an hour answering a friend's question about the differences between Lexapro and Celexa. He's my go-to guy when I need to know something about Hegel. Hell, I'll forgive a bland good morning for a witty demotivator or a cute picture of kittens. But to know that I like those things, you have to, I dunno, actually think about who you're sending the message to rather than spamming "good morning" to everyone you've ever talked to.
