Don't think I've ever heard of such a thing, MN. Although I gotta say (because being honest has done me such good already) that I don't often pry too deeply into the guts of websites. The ones I have dissected were all JS, or things even more arcane. PHP, ASP, etc.--but none of the programming languages I ever learned. :p

LP, once again, you're putting word in my mouth. I'm perfectly happy being deleted unread, as should have been indicated to you by that (meant as humor) journal entry. As I have opined before, I think my blocks are a result of my response to some of the deliberately rude (not simply deleted) responses I recieved: that is, I blocked them.

If the filter is admittedly being tweaked, why is the immediate response of the community to smear and malign anyone caught in it?

Rants and whinning seldom get a great deal of positive response on the boards. Sometimes it is true that the users (of whom I am one) are a little too quick to spank the OP when we perceive a post as whinning or ranting. However, I think you have received some very positive and polite responses to your post.

If you don't like the response you are consistently receiving, evaluate how you are delivering the message.

Some, yes. Those responses are still in the minority, though, I expect--hard to tell, since I have the worst offenders set to "hidden" now.

I would suggest, based on the prejudices of my audience, that there is no way to present my premise that they won't receive as "whining" or "ranting."

Heh.  If you are collecting women who are rude to you, you are one hell of a Lothario.

Also, you may enjoy the following comparison of web application frameworks, since "silly" mnottertail was too nice to rub your face in your ignorance.

As a general pointer for picking up kinky girls: talking a lot is not as attractive as having a lot to say.

NoirUMC -> RE: Annoyed! (10/8/2010 11:08:32 AM)

Um. If you read that page on WP, it does more to support my premise than his. Assuming you have any faith in WP. >.>

Edit: You may be right! Looks like java, at least, may be the language used in creating apps for some of those. Not C++, still. But this primarily lists the language used to create the framework, which isn't quite what we were discussing. CM itself, however, seems to be an ASP site.

WHAT do you WANT?

What do you need to make this all ok?

Most of us would set up a 2nd profile and call it a day.

bellesoumise -> RE: Annoyed! (10/8/2010 11:20:41 AM)

Good luck getting that answered. How many pages has been spent trying to figure out the answer to that very same question. He wants to be held and told that everything will be okay. He wants to be told that the big bad spam monster won't come out of the closet to get him again.

NoirUMC -> RE: Annoyed! (10/8/2010 11:25:02 AM)

Is he asking questions now? I thought it was all just snark from him. Maybe I'll unmute him someday.

LMAO!

OKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK.

I think we get it now.

pahunkboy -> RE: Annoyed! (10/8/2010 11:29:26 AM)

Basically-- it is block or be blocked-  any little thing  and BLOCK- block the block and then wonder WHY there- like how on earth could there possibly BE a block?

He who lives by the block- dies by the block.

I realize that this thread probably ought to die a natural death, but for posterity:

If we've corresponded briefly in the past, particularly if the conversation died out, receiving no-content "good morning" messages is annoying. And, if you're sending them to everyone you've ever talked to, STILL SPAM. If we were talking and you want to say good morning, why not continue the conversation? If you've gotten to know me, it doesn't take a lot of text to strike up a conversation about a current event that I'm interested in, or send me a link that I might find cool, or ask me a question about something. The other day I spent an hour answering a friend's question about the differences between Lexapro and Celexa. He's my go-to guy when I need to know something about Hegel.

Hell, I'll forgive a bland good morning for a witty demotivator or a cute picture of kittens. But to know that I like those things, you have to, I dunno, actually think about who you're sending the message to rather than spamming "good morning" to everyone you've ever talked to.
