The disability received by a wounded soldier is manifestly not welfare. Any honest thinking person knows I meant AFDC. On the slim offchance that you are neither: by "welfare" I meant AFDC, and was referring to the millions of women who supported themselves for multiple generations by the simple expedients of having children and not identifying the fathers.

I am as honest as the day is long. You are now suggesting your post, which I pulled you up on, meant something OTHER than what you typed. Where the hell is the honesty in that ? Since you want to push it though, lets take single mothers as a single issue. Do you really think all of them knew the father of the child would not help her raise that child. Do you think that all of these women were unemployed to start with. Do you think none of them may have hit hard times for one reason or another, Or are you just going to pull your "dishonest" stance and again change the boundaries of what you "said" to what you "meant" ?

The only dishonesty here is taking my post about welfare and twisting it into disapproval of the disabilities received by wounded vets. Well, no, actually the dishonesty actually goes further. You take: "referring to the millions of women who supported themselves for multiple generations by the simple expedients of having children and not identifying the fathers" and twist that into somehow meaning that I disapprove of all AFDC payments ever made to anyone. Nothing I said disavows the need for a temporary safety net. If you want to talk about what I actually wrote instead of twisting it around I'd enjoy further exchange.

It was widely reported in the 70s that there were over a million 3rd generation AFDC recipients in NYC alone. Just pumpin out children they couldn't afford......

I have to say, I haven't read more than the first page of posts...but I was listening to NPR yesterday evening and of course Juan Williams came up. He was an analyst for a widely recognized news source. It is against NPR policy for their media presenters to announce opinions on other news sources that conflict with anything they might say on-air with NPR. What those opinions are, are in this case irrelevant. It was honest to admit that seeing people in traditional Muslim dress on a plane would make him nervous, but by saying so he violated the terms of his contract and was subsequently fired. He was not fired for what he said specifically, but because the nature of his comments were not considered politically correct.
