While the debate over the pros and cons of abortion has been interesting, the point of this was anti-abortion christian extremists putting abortion providers on wanted posters. In all but one case that I can find, this has led directly to the people on the posters being murdered.

I do not agree with abortion on religious and personal grounds, I do not see how the bible justifies putting a person's name, description, photo, home address, work address, car make and tag number with the intent to put their lives in danger.

OP: It doesn't. Very few things could justify a manhunt that ends in murder, IMO.
Now I hate to say it, but your thread has been derailed...and I'm interested in what's been said.

Truckinslave: If these 50 million 'murdered' babies were carried to term and raised or given away, how exactly would we be able to support them? Our society can barely support the population as is, and competition for limited resources - like clean water and food - is called a 'starvation economy' for a reason. When there is more demand than supply, the unfortunate go without. Are you suggesting that it would be kinder to let these children starve than abort?

i guess it's easier to stand on principle when someone else is doing your dirty work.

Yet another reason to distrust/dislike the UN. As if I needed one.

My own take on that is that I'd rather meet my maker having done the deed myself than having set someone else to do it.

Switch, I'm all for ZPG, so all I can do is take some solace in the Emerson quote about a foolish consistency being the hobgoblin of little minds.
That, and the fact that my wants do not justify murder.

The abortions occurred over a period of time; the people would have been absorbed. Some would have created jobs; some would have filled them. Fewer illegal aliens would have come over.
And... who knows? We may have killed the mind that would have given us anti-gravity, FTL drives, and cattlefish that eat oil slicks, poop salmon food, and taste better than Kobi beef.....

Really?....and just how many was that?....The reason I ask (and am quite skeptical), is that someone recently told me that more than twenty abortion doctors have been murdered.....

That sounded like quite a few, so I checked it out....he was wrong....it was 4 in over 30 years.....while that is four too many, as usual it seems that "those" that use the term "Christian extremist"...are also mostly wrong about their facts.

Just an observation....from the "right"....LOL

truckinslave -> RE: Some one want to explain which part of the Bible promotes this? (10/23/2010 7:04:39 PM)

Damn! I coulda had a V8, and I coulda checked that out myself. shoulda, too. Thanks.

4 murders, in 30 years, of abortionists by unsupported people makes anti-abortion Christians extremists.
Dozens or hundreds of terrorist/jihadi attacks every year, attacks supported by various mosques and even governments around the world, attacks killing thousands or tens of thousands, makes Islam the Religion of Peace.

And Dr Rossiter has the gall to define liberalism as a mental illness!!!!

We may have prevented some brilliant minds from contributing to the greater good, but I don't think that many people can be absorbed. We simply don't have the resources. While anti-gravity would have been awesome and my imagination indulges in a dorky little dance thinking about how much fun that would be, what good is anti-gravity if we can't sustain the lives that would benefit from and enjoy it?
Stated as opinion because I don't have time to add links before logging off, sorry.

edited to remove a double negative

Quick question truckin.....How many of those unwanted babies (preferrably with handicaps) have YOU adopted?

truckinslave -> RE: Some one want to explain which part of the Bible promotes this? (10/23/2010 8:04:23 PM)

Quick answer. None. They're dead dude.

Birth control is never 100%.  How many people actually read the fine print on condom packages to hear that the yearly failure rate among people who use it exactly right each time...is 20% of these condom using couples having a pregnancy during that year.

I'm not criticizing your message just wondering about your number, where did you get that stat because I have it at 2%

"The perfect use pregnancy rate of condoms is 2% per year." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Condom#In_preventing_pregnancy

With anti-gravity we gently lower a few of the thousands of asteroids that each contain more heavy metal ore than has been mined in the history of earth onto the deserted places of earth. The price of metals drops to, well, not nothing, but very little. We lift glaciers to deserts to grow food in hitherto unknown quantities. We make spaceships that bring down comets for the greater quantities of water we need. We built huge hollow spheres and cluster them at the L5 point to grow even greater quantities of food.
We begin the diaspora from Earth.
Or, hell, wwe just kill inconvenient babies.

And this is from an admitted misanthrope, btw.

The law is that any woman can get an abortion at any stage for any reason. Or no reason.
Of course, if you can inform me of a SCOTU-approved law placing restrictions on abortion, I would deeply appreciate it.

This is your assertion. Gonzales is my answer. It upheld a ban on late term abortions except in the case of maternal health.

Through this legislation, a doctor could face up to two years in prison and face civil lawsuits for performing such an abortion. A mother who undergoes the procedure cannot be prosecuted under the measure. The measure contains an exemption to allow the procedure if the mother's life is threatened. On October 21, 2003, the United States Senate passed the same bill by a vote of 64-34, with a number of Democrats joining in support. The bill was signed by President George W. Bush on November 5, 2003, but a federal judge blocked its enforcement in several states just a few hours after it became public law. The Supreme Court upheld the nationwide ban on the procedure in the case Gonzales v. Carhart on April 18, 2007. The 5-4 ruling said the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act does not conflict with previous Court decisions regarding abortion.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abortion_in_the_United_States

Upholding a ban is an approval by the SC to limit access to late term abortions except in the case of maternal health.

Making this part of your post...

Or with the actual text of the mother of all abortions, Roe, which stated that while the court did not affirm a vested interest in a first-trimester fetus, it had an increasing interest through the second trimester, and a stronger interest in preserving the life of a third-trimester fetus?
Or with the fact that my whole adult life I have seen myself as a defender of the weak (soldier, cop, bounty hunter etc etc), and that I consider this a calling as strongly as others might consider law or the priesthood?
Or with my youngest child, herself born in her second trimester at a birth weight of 1# 9oz?? The one for whom I forged medical releases to allow me to continue giving blood longafter my doctor refused? The one I quit work to care for when she came home at just under four and a half pounds?

Religious, legal, personal.... abortion is pretty emotional to me Kirata. I make no pretense of reasonableness.

I love it.

You forged medical releases? Did the insurance company have to pay these costs? Or did you foot the bill? Or more likely was it picked up by the state?

The doctor and the hospital never noticed the forged documents? This whole story strikes me as a lie, a complete fabrication. When did this happen 1912? Who picked up the costs for your fictional daughter's care?

You probably left the state paying for your fraudulent activities and your daughter's care.

Some defender.

Did you make sure that no one that was a liberal gave your daughter any care? As they saved her life did you ask who they voted for in the last election? Of course not. When someone has power over you, all of a sudden it doesn't seem to matter. You only threaten those that are weaker than you....Some Defender

Defender of the weak...What a joke. You fire people that don't share your political ideology...YOU ARE THE WEAK!!!

Pompous arrogant ass.

I highly doubt you ever had a daughter, consensually. If you did, I doubt she weighed 25 oz at birth.

You committed fraud. You are a dishonest person. You have proven that you cannot to be trusted through your other posts. You are a proven liar.

These are not attacks these are facts.

So what happened to your daughter? What happened to your family? Do you pay child support? I would love to see how you defended your kids. Would love to talk to the mother of your children about truckinslave, "The Great Defender."

I can tell when someone is full of shit. You out yourself with every post.

It's a religious belief.
As in, faith, and therefore unquantifiable - unless the religious community has been holding back factual evidence for a loooong time because they like the perpetual argument [:)]

And im not... Just sayin'... im flat out asking.

Moonhead -> RE: Some one want to explain which part of the Bible promotes this? (10/24/2010 8:23:58 AM)

It's strange how everybody in this thread who's saying that abortion is a beastly abomination that shouldn't be allowed belongs to the half of the human race that pisses standing up, isn't it?
