Both of those photos were taken from the top of the Washington Monument. There is telephoto compression in the Sanity rally (the view has to 'reach' farther) that is not present in the Beck rally photo. From the photos, courtesy of telephoto compression, it would appear that the Capitol is closer to the Washington Monument than the Lincoln Memorial, but we know its not. The circle of the Beck rally map is too big (by at least 30%) as it encompasses the Washington Monument itself, rather than end at the pool. The 4 square buildings on the right side of the Sanity photo is the Smithsonian, and the extreme corner of the round building is the Hirshorn Museum of Modern Art. The sanity rally clearly extends down past the Smithsonian to 7th street, with the outer portions extending beyond 7th street.. However, the circle on the map shows the rally ending at 6th street. I guess bloggers are equally deceptive as established media outlets
