There's an interesting definition-related nuance ... so what, in the general scheme of things, is the difference between a top and a dom/me?

It fascinates me how different people tend to have different ideas on the topic ... the last time I saw it discussed somewhere (not here), it ended up as a "is not!", "are too!" type exchange.

For me.. it means that I am more interested in interactions that are more sado/maso, than dom/sub stuff.  SOMETIMES the dominant bit DOES infiltrate that sado/maso stuff.. but not much.

That’s roughly what I would have said too ... but for me, there’s no real differentiation between the dominant things and the M/s or D/s things, or the SM things ... it’s all just one giant smorgasbord, (with me in charge, of course).

Mind you I'm quite simplistic I think; I don't tend to over-think or categorise myself, or events – I've noticed some people absolutely love to very precisely pigeonhole what they're into. Personally I’d find that a bit restrictive but, as always, it's whatever works for each individual.

I have excellent reason to believe I know a scammer who has just joined the site. I was scammed by her on another site. I have reported her using the "report user" button. Is there something else I should do? I don't want to see others get tricked and conned out of money and expectations. Thanks.

I'm sorry that you were scammed. Unfortunately, they're just a part of life on collarme, and you're offering to identify one scammer out of tens of thousands. The rest of us are pretty good at picking them by now...

Yeah I would have to agree 100% on this right here. too bad the poster doesn't have the ability to do so.

You could post the story of what happened to you as a cautionary road-map tale. The Censors may not allow you to use the person's actual screen name, though.

Its always helpful to see the MO of a con artist. It would give the readers something to put on their radar screens.

quote:

Well all this talk about it all and still no info on what the scam (or no scam) was?
What was the scam?
Did they sell a product that you never recieved? (like handmade leather products for example)
Did they steal your identity?
Did they steal your pics?
I'm trying to figure out how does one get scammed on here?
I guess I could go on & on with what ifs...

My thoughts exactly.

Blame the victim is common mantra around here; don't let it get to you. Sometimes when you criticize the conduct of females, or in this case a Mistress, it gets internalized as a criticism of women. Also, sometimes the posters here see a man's complaint or problem as a projection. (AKA, he is the problem, but he is projecting blame onto others.)

As hard as it may be, take the high road or have a sense of humor about it. Also, don't refrain from defending your position or the legitimacy of the question you are asking.

There are some extremely prolific con artists. One of them operates as follows: he/she uses very well written boilerplate claiming to be a lifestyle Domina. There are many mix and match variants all targeting male slaves. Several different fetish model's photos are used but only pictures of her body. It began on a different BD/SM personals site over 5 years ago and was imported here. There are usually one or two ads per US state. One profile in the 30s age range the other in the 40s age range.

It was discussed on a site devoted to pro domination by someone who did lose money and at that time the scammer had moved on to setting up a website with e payment tribute. He/she claims to want a live in slave. Originally it was operated out of the UK, they asked for cash sent to a UK PO box near a University. He/she claimed to be a student from Virginia studying fashion in the UK, however, the University they name dropped doesn't offer any courses in design and fashion.

I did not get taken by the way. This person is really quite subtle and could easily swindle someone who is new. The text and photos are easy to spot but someone new to this site might want to believe it. I don't even click on the profile if I see the photo type they use.

Try adding a few with the above characteristics to your favorites list, they tend to log in within 1 to 2 minutes of the other with staggered log ins used on occasion. You can get strings of 5-10 profile log ins within 10 minutes and all are incredibly well built fetish models with no face shown.

If this isn't the same person its quite a coincidence that almost all these ads are checked at the same time.

I suppose I'll be mocked like the OP but there were a few legitimate questions about how these scams operate and the above describes one prolific method.

Edited: Punctuation and grammar.

Good grief! Sub males get a much better level of scammer! I'm green with jealousy

All I ever get is some grainy pic that's clearly been taken of a magazine, using a cheap mobile phone (or that's been cut & pasted from a web site, in a resolution close to 4 x 1), an ethnicity that's often "native American" where the pic relates to a blue-eyed blonde ("was your dad called Tonto Carlsson?") and a "description" that contains so many glaring grammatical errors along the lines of "I ruv you rong time wiv no rimits!" that it's almost impossible to read. If you ask where in "UK" they are they'll reply with responses so funny that you'll boggle, then piss yourself laughing.

On one occasion I was bored enough to "chat" off-CM, for a giggle, they seemed to believe I a) knew the queen personally and she pops round for tea*, b) I lived in the Tower Of London ("the room rental rates aren't as much as you'd think you know") and c) Tony Blair was a regular guest at my wild sex parties.

Things were going really well until I inadvertently let slip that my job of work was as an international assassin, tasked with carrying out Blair's secret orders to eliminate scammers and frauds, world-wide, by judicious use of a shotgun and a hamster**. Our relationship went a bit frosty after that.

I'm feeling rather hard done by on this one I must say.

*This is self-evidently a lie ... I don't drink tea.
** I deliberately never specified in which capacity the hamster was used

Gawd, RF - careful with that sort of joke.  You know how looney-paranoid the various Western security forces are these days.

No, I really don't see it that way.  It's very simplistic from My point of view.  Any email contact between participants comes with a warning from the site in big, red letters:

Do not send money to other users for any reason.

To Me, that means it's not complicated at all.  It doesn't matter how good the pitch is, or how well one scammer stands out above the rest in their approach.  If people specifically ignore the warning that the site gives them, they have no one to blame but themselves when they voluntarily hand over their cash.  I'm not going to feel sorry for anybody under those circumstances.

It rained hard all day. When I went out, I got wet.
I am shocked and stunned.
Others must be warned.
I need a forum to complain...

I know a Domme on this site who has a hairy mole on her left butt cheek.

I have reported her using the "report hairy moles" button.

That's a bit like saying "Don't run out into the road without checking for vehicles approaching", I'm sure sure plenty of people don't check and then complain if they get hit by a car. Where's the point? Nobody forces anybody to send money out, if you think you are much smarter than the rest so "it can't happen to you" and you get stung, well then I guess a scammer was smarter than you are, because obviously you (general you) weren't smart enough to read the warning that you should NOT SEND MONEY TO STRANGERS!

I will start feeling sorry for all the scam victims, but currently I am too busy feeling sorry for the victims of the Nigerian scams, you know all those poor people who are still waiting for the millions to be transferred into their bank accounts.
