veryfriskybuddy -> I know a scammer on the site (11/12/2010 12:49:30 PM)

I have excellent reason to believe I know a scammer who has just joined the site. I was scammed by her on another site. I have reported her using the "report user" button. Is there something else I should do? I don't want to see others get tricked and conned out of money and expectations. Thanks.

Why do you assume that people are dumb enough to fall for the scam?

I don't think there's anything else to do, VFB.  Dealing with scammers is pretty efficient on CM these days, I'd say.

Raechard -> RE: I know a scammer on the site (11/12/2010 1:09:58 PM)

When people say such things I wonder, given the amount of people on the site (and the internet in general), how the same victims become aware of the same criminals. What are the chances you'd stumble upon the same criminals on different sites?

(Unless perhaps you follow them around?)

Having said this there is that five degrees of separation thing.

Lockit -> RE: I know a scammer on the site (11/12/2010 1:32:24 PM)

Since when do victims walk in, hand out their money and call foul like a victim and wish to expose the scammer rather that realize they just exposed how stupid they were? She wanted your money, you gave it, now you are calling foul? lol Trust me, we aren't going to be all sweet and kind and giving you the poor you and how honorable you are that you are trying to report this.

You have a few things to think about and it really shouldn't be how you can seek revenge or justice... it ought to be how not to be a fool with his money and what motivates you to do so.

I am very aware of scammers.  I solicit blowjobs and if my dick don't end up in a mouth?

ROFL!

It's more than likely not the same scammer, but the same scam.
But good on you for spotting it and not getting sucked in.

actually, a mugger I had the displeasure to meet in 2005 approached me when I joined the side here in 2007...so it does happen and does not just depend on the victim as he stumbled over me and thought it is great to drop a snarky comment...

DarkSteven -> RE: I know a scammer on the site (11/12/2010 2:32:09 PM)

I'm sorry that you were scammed. Unfortunately, they're just a part of life on collarme, and you're offering to identify one scammer out of tens of thousands. The rest of us are pretty good at picking them by now...

Raechard -> RE: I know a scammer on the site (11/12/2010 2:33:37 PM)

Perhaps he didn't stumble, depends if you believe in coincidences I suppose.

I'm always wary of coincidences but they do happen.

edit: weary = wary.

I find most of the comments here foolish, and not worth further comment (particularly yours, Lockit). If I'm a fool for wanting to caution others about a predator, then I'm proud to be a fool.

Aresidora -> RE: I know a scammer on the site (11/12/2010 8:58:32 PM)

Well all this talk about it all and still no info on what the scam (or no scam) was?
What was the scam?
Did they sell a product that you never recieved? (like handmade leather products for example)
Did they steal your identity?
Did they steal your pics?
I'm trying to figure out how does one get scammed on here?
I guess I could go on & on with what ifs...

Lighten up, Francis.

The trouble is that you're either being genuine and trying to spare someone the fleecing that you experienced, or you're here to torpedo someone's reputation.  There's no way for anyone here to know which is the truth and that's why the site has their "no blacklisting" policy.  The fact that you're an unknown quantity here certainly definitely does not work in your favor.

You reported the profile and did what you could within the rules of the site.  If people are going to forgo common sense and ignore the warnings you see every time you read email, well, there's nothing you can do about that.

I know a Doctor that just joined the site.  I think I win on finding the bigger scammer.

I'm sorry for you that you feel that way. You see, you seem comfortable playing a hero out to right the wrongs of the world when you were a willing and active participant. You have a problem with accountability when it is your own but no problem holding the other participant accountable. There are only scammers because there are guys like you that are trying to get something with their money and get bent because they didn't get what they wanted and know they were used. The thing is, you were using your money to use someone or get something.

You must see that you had to do your part to make her, the scammer, successful. You weren't just scammed, you were a party to it. When you can see your own error and stop playing innocent victim or hero after the fact, you might get what I'm saying.

KatyLied -> RE: I know a scammer on the site (11/12/2010 9:50:48 PM)

OP you gave someone money and now you want to whine about it.  Most people like their money too much to give it away to internet strangers.  In other words, we are not as scammable as you.
