Careful, he'll be threatening with Springsteen next ;)

Oh please god no.

<fx: waves white flag>
bunch of sadists around here, lemme tell ya

Indeed so. I didn't think it was militaristic because, as the OP pointed out, it isn't.

My objections were on the quite reasonable grounds that the album blew goats.

Early Springsteen yes, fine, especially if you're riding or driving. Later Springsteen yes, ok, if you must.

But that period is best left dumped into a hole marked "I so wish you and your arse hadn't bothered, Bruce"

I would love to know where you got your percentage from.

I've seen figures that say that only 25% of Americans of any category have passports, so I can well believe that figure.

But yes, a definitive reference would be smashing.

Approximately 86% of non-military blue-collar Americans have never left North America. If a few yanks are so badly hurt and stung by the more outspoken Europeans to think that everybody outside the US hates it, I'd strongly advise them to join some website that caters to whatever other personal interests they have AND ends with .co.uk, so they can see whether their prejudices are founded. Let the truth smack them in the eyes. That's how they'll learn best. When they realise the rest of the world is willing to love, hug, and play with the big "Playground Bully of the World", not out of fear but out of LOVE for the nation that gave us barbecued food, the moon landing and most thankfully of all Cindy Crawford, they'll soon change their tune.

And I hope one or two of them made it this far down my post to actually act on it.

Oh come on Jay, how many Brits don't own a passport or if they do they have made to the chavtastic Ibiza vacation or behaved badly when going to Majorca and binge drinking and in general behaving like twits. How many Europeans haven't left Europe? Because that would be a fair comparison to Americans not having left the United States, big place you know, not sure if you have been.

Surely you are able to disagree with certain political decision of a country without being Anti-Americans or bashing a whole nation, mind you Blair, Brown and now Cameron aren't really shining examples of great politicians...

Since you love France so much, I suggest you go there and complain as loudly about everything you dislike as you complain about the US and see how long it will take the flicks to throw you into a cell and then out of the country. Mind you, I hope you do it in fluent French because they're a bit notoriously uncooperative if you don't speak their language...

While not disagreeing with you on the "les flicks" thing, I have to say I've never encountered a country where the people give you more credit for trying to speak their language than France. I'm frankly hopeless, and they do their utmost to reward me for trying.

Apart from in Paris, obviously. But, as someone clever once observed, Paris isn't France [;)]

Oh hang on, there is another country that gives you even more credit. Try Italy. Wonderful people. And as anti- the Swiss notion of organisation as it's possible to get. I adore them. Anyone who wants to experience what true anarchy feels like, try an Italian motorway service station - fantastic food, heavenly coffee ... and utter, utter mayhem. But it works.

Sort of [:D]

Thanks, you didn't know by chance that I'm half Italian? And while I am not anti French, I have to state that the French like to have the reputation Italy actually lives up to, in terms of fashion and cuisine... Oh hell yes, and Alfas are just so much prettier than Renaults...

I didn't know, no.

But yes, Italian food is better (and I know food), the fashion I couldn't speak about, the cars I’d buy neither, but maybe a Mito if you forced me, but for 100% mayhem, you have to have an Italian "system" or "process".

It's been my "good fortune" to witness more than a few, and I've never emerged without tears of laughter streaming down my face. Italians are "special".

In every sense [:D]

LadyConstanze -> RE: Another Tribute to Veterans (11/16/2010 2:00:49 PM)

Living pretty central, I drive a Toyota Yaris, not the pretties car but it does the job and fits in small parking spots, I do like Alfas but I simply don't really use a car enough to have an excuse to blow that kind of money on it.

As for fashion, 99% of all fashion designers are gay, while the French try to make the models look like boys in women's clothes, the Italian fashion designers are just as camp but they genuinely like women...

Though you've actually named 2 out of the 3 parts of the world I'd most dearly love to live in anyway

Jaybee..I have purposely ignored your responses because they are inflammatory and not worth the bandwidth.  However, this comment and it's direct reference needed a bit of my time.

You have heard of the word hypothetical, yes?   Pick any country a person is residing in, Greenland would work if that is your home address.  It was my intent to find out a little more about the person behind the nick, subjeremy2, to determine if further conversation was a worthwhile venture.   The question wasn't directed at you, since I had already decided you were not.  This post is the exception.

What you termed a "fucking dumb question", was indeed a way for me to see beyond the screen and judge the moral fiber of the person on the keys.  Consider this a moment of enlightenment, :)   *insert soothing and calming, beach sounds here*

I have alot of respect for our Veteran's.They are the reason we have our freedom's today.I am not shy about going up to a veteran and shaking his/her hand, thanking them for their service.I may not agree with every war taking place, but that's not the veteran's place. They are simply following order's.The President of the USA make's the decision's about that.... It make's me sick when I read or hear about people disrespecting our troop's in such a negative manner.Like those nutjob's protesting at a veteran's funeral say ing it's because Amercia is becoming more tolerant of homosexuality, that's why we have these war's and death's.These are sick, hopeless people who should go to hell themselve's..... THANK YOU VETERAN'S FOR MY FREEDOM!!!

Ah right ... all I know is:

1. French women think I'm an assassin. They think I need to lose a few pounds in order to fit into whatever gaylord pair of ultra-thin trousers are "in" this year. They point at my swarthy face and shudder. They then suggest to their mates they go eat/drink somewhere else.

2. Italian women think I'm an assassin. They think I look manly, and like my biking leathers. They point at my swarthy face and shudder. In a slightly different way.

They sometimes then suggest we go somewhere else to talk in more depth about how bad a man I am, and what can be done to reform me.

I really like France.

I love Italy.

Dude, please, for the love of all that's right and good, could you please (and I'm begging you here), learn when, and more crucially when not, to use an apostrophe. It's not used to denote a plural, for example.

PS: What's the name of that religious group that pickets war vet funerals in the US? They're seriously off the dial ... Louis Theroux did a wonderful documentary on them a few years ago. Even he was lost for words sometimes:

"Are you racists?"

"Nah, we ain't racists! ... although having said that, we don't like black people" ... and you got the impression the words "black people" were not his first choice, and that he was being mindful of the cameras. <shudder> I guess that's the price for freedom of speech [:(]

You must mean the imbeciles of the "Westboro Baptist Church" lead by Fred Phelps.  They protest serviceman's funerals claiming  "they died because the USA supports gay rights" which according to them pisses "god" off so he gets them killed.

They are as big a bunch of loons as I've ever seen.

Been to the US half a dozen times, loved every time. Love America, hate some of it's governments. Love Blair, hate his decision to invade Iraq. Speak French, and on that note, it's "Les flics". If you want to use a derogatory, you can write "flicards".

That's them! They are, as you point out, utterly insane.

What was sad, in the documentary, was how otherwise decent kids (i.e. the offspring of that family) had been brainwashed and turned to "the right way of thinking for all god-fearing folk". It was tragic.

Ye gods. Seek professional therapy. The Swiss are proof that a lack of adrenaline sends people insane.

If you love France, do France. Don't do FranceLite. Switzerland is like Canada without the sense of humour.

That’s also the first time I've ever heard anyone use the phrase “is pretty much the outskirts of Bavaria” as a plus point. Other than the Nordschleife, of course. We all bow to the Nordschleife, as is only fit and proper.

Bavarians and Swiss alike would kill him for that comment...

Actually part of Switzerland is beautiful and the area around Lugano is just marvelous, but the Swiss really do things by the book... Very very organized, and heaven help you if you don't cross your T's properly

Actually, I hadn't. Apart from that wonderful island of sheer cool that is Muenchen, Bavarian towns and their citizenry are a somewhat eerie places, think Waco, Texas but in German and 15 degrees colder.

Well, there I must leave it for tonight...been burning the candle at both ends far too often these last 10 days. Gute Nacht!

fast reply

been watching this for two days.  all it proves is that internet pissing contests get everyone pissed on.

Thank you veterans and their families.  Not for the wars, but for the sacrifice to do what your country asked no matter what country you're in.  Thank you for defending everyone's right to look like a complete asshole on line without worrying that men will come in the night and beat you in front of your children for expressing a thought.

I've blocked a couple people on here because their nonsense trolling actually got my blood pressure up.  Neat feature, that blocky thing.  Try it, it makes everything nice and quiet....

*sips tea, gives Sofldan a call, logs the fuck off this nonsense*
