i wanted to make the following argument, which i also made in the fat thread. This is what i'm hearing:

quote:

ORIGINAL: crystalclarinet
...why on earth would a sub hand over their money to someone as willingly as these people expect you to... Am I missing something?

quote:

ORIGINAL: femdomlover72
i don't have a financial control fetish, but i have given my Mistress complete control of my finances. To me, it is a way to offer complete submission to Her...i actually feel closer to her now that i have done it

quote:

ORIGINAL: Awareness
Financial dommes are whores. They're basically exchanging an interpersonal experience for money.

quote:

ORIGINAL: Atropos19
There needs to be *some* kind of give and take and... there's just not. They will constantly demand your time and money, and never give you anything in return. So buyer beware.

quote:

ORIGINAL: Elisabella
i think it's hot... There's something really hot about telling a guy "No, you're not buying my time, you're giving me money because I'm better than you and we both know it.

Totally hot mental domination, IMO. Definitely sets the 'status' of the Domme far over the sub

quote:

ORIGINAL: CaringandReal
My former Master controlled all income I earned and used it in any way he saw fit. I had no problem with that, in fact I loved it because it was just another area where i had zero control (win for me!)... I just felt as though I was his benefit and that was very right, very much how it should be.

quote:

ORIGINAL: SyntheticPet
Someday pay dommes (aka prostitutes) may be a thing of the past, if supply catches up with demand. We can only hope.

quote:

ORIGINAL: LadyPact
No offense, but don't count on it. There will always be a demand...
In My personal opinion I'd be suprised if the ratio ever got any better than three or four to one. I sincerely believe it's going to remain a females market... for a very long time.

Why do i bring this up? Because, for me, every one of these opinions is valid and interesting. Every one of these posters brings something to the table, their own opinion which speaks to their experiences and views on the world. And i think that's beautiful.

i'm sorry that so many people don't like the pro-Domme threads, the fat threads, the slave vs sub threads, etc. The fact is that i do like them. i like them because it's precisely the differences between us that make for an engaging and interesting debate. i sometimes wish there were less name calling, less personal attacks, less emotionalism, less hijacks (like this one) on the forums. But i have never wished for less judgement. Go ahead and judge me, because i'm gonna judge you. And then, at least, we'll all have something to talk about.

i don't mean to offend anyone, really. But i wish i could make you all see that judgement can be something positive. i respect every one of you for having the courage to stand up and make an argument, for putting your views on the table and subjecting them to the scrutiny of others. i think that you all are some of the smartest, most articulate people i know. Thank you all for the debate. i love you guys.

Would I give money for a relationship/situ?
Nope. I would also never pay for sex. But that is me.
Why are there so many offering their services for money ?
Because somebody is willing to pay for it.
I've been alone now for 9 years and no dom for almost 3.
But never will money be a part of it.
Life has thrown me a curve since I am caring for my mom almost 24/7 now.
Whom knows what the future holds.

Wait... there are people here who just want my money?
But this is the internet! (lol)

I like the ones who are at least up front about it. Their profiles basically say, "I'm young, I'm HOT and I can't believe that there are idiot losers here, who are willing to send me money in exchange for a few abusive emails... This is FANTASTIC!"
Good luck to 'em.

I've only been here about a week but I've enjoyed looking at a lot of profiles (sub male, seeking Dom Female). There are some obvious patterns and categories of people I'm seeing. Genuine people, gold diggers, scammers and everything in between. There are professionals advertising for new clients but I'm fine with that, as long as they are honest (I'm often tempted).
I think it's best to be honest and respectful and 'hope' that they will do the same. I've already exchanged some pleasant messages with some women I believe to be genuine.

But always be careful and use some common sense. Eg: a new admirer appeared on my page today. Apparently, I am one of the "Lucky, chosen ones". But to prove I'm serious and take things further, I'll have to send a small "Tribute".
Wow, I really am lucky!

So as I normally take that look through profiles on the hope that maybe one day I might find one that appeals to my Dom and I... I begin to realize that more than half of the people on here are demanding money slaves... I mean maybe my perspective is different because I am an independent sub, but why on earth would a sub hand over their money to someone as willingly as these people expect you to... I mean someone better be married to me or at least seriously dating me before I'm shelling out more than dinner dates and Christmas gifts. Am I missing something?

You've got it pretty close.  Anyone who wants money should be blocked from any further exchanges.

If you let a camel sleep with his head in the tent, than eventually there's going to be a whole camel sleeping next to you.

lmao - gift-wrapped!!

But IMO - the transfer of cash is a kink that is just as valid as any other kink. If you want to pay a professional for services, then why not? If you want to offer tribute to a Dom/me and it gets you off, then why not?

Just because they don't fit 'my' definition of an ideal bdsm experience, doesn't mean they are in any way inferior. irrelevant or 'untwue'.

One thing I've learned since becoming involved in my local kink community is tolerance and acceptance. It makes for a much happier, friendlier world

I agree with you in part, osf.

In my local 'community' I find little intolerance. Personal differences, yes, but very little intolerance of kinks.

Online seems to be a different story.

Fortunately I'm not looking for a weal and twue Domly Dom - I'm happy to settle for a decent guy whose kinks and demands pretty much match up with my own

I was kind of curious if those people acutally had a fetish for it or they were just what they appear to be money hungry individuals.

There are both.

'Tis true. The greed or scam thing is obvious and easily understood but the fetish thing I simply cannot handle.

An attractive young lady contacted me here a while back and we got message chatting; really nice person and I started getting interested and thinking of meeting. Then she said what she wanted me to do was take her money, to make her pay me each time we met.

Whoah - hang about - this is a scam I've not met before thinks I. Where's this going and how does it work? I couldn't believe she wanted what she wanted. Several conversations later it was abundantly clear that that really was what she wanted - no funnies which ended up with me paying her, no "send me your bank account detail". I couldn't - and can't handle it. And it turns out she's not alone, it's a not uncommon fetish.

Funny old world isn't it.

Each to their own etc.  If some people enjoy this then who am I to judge?

For myself (fem sub) I just couldn't envisage being with a man who would want my money, or need it.

I'm attracted to 'alpha males'.  To me, that doesn't just mean they're dominant in a relationship.  It means they're in control of their own lives too.  I couldn't consider a man to be dominant to me if he needed me to provide for him.  I would feel as if I then had some hold over him - he who pays the piper chooses the tune.  He would have a level of dependancy on me.

Of course, because I'm in an established relationship, if a disaster befell us and I had to become the main contributer I would do so without hesitation, but I wouldn't enter a relationship on those terms, purely because it wouldn't be the right dynamic.

But that's my preference.  It seems perfectly acceptable for male doms to provide for female subs, so I don't see why any other dynamic isn't just as viable, providing all parties are happy with this.

:-)

just to make a couple of comments about the last post ..and more.

....but what about sourandsweet if your dom takes your money to deprive you of it? So he doesn't really need it, he just wants to take your money and spend your hard earned cash on ..well whatever, could be something entirely frivolous. Maybe as a way of asserting his dominance .. or punishing you.

quote:

I couldn't consider a man to be dominant to me if he needed me to provide for him.

Its a good thing that us submissive men don't think that way as we often provide for the dominant women. ( please note the word "often")

just thoughts without and real structure

I guess 'technically' he COULD take my money and spend it on whatever, but he wouldn't.  He has no need for it.  If he did, well, I don't know.  I guess he wouldn't be the man I know he is.

I did try to make it very clear that this is very much my viewpoint, my feelings.  I'm not saying it's right, or wrong, nor am I intending, by comparison, to judge others thoughts and/ or feelings on this topic.  Therefore I hope you took my post in the way it was intended.
