Firefox is a much safer internet browser than IE. Much safer. On saying that, what I didn't say, but meant to, is that Firefox is a much safer browser than IE especially if it is running a couple of the more well-known plugins - Adblock Plus, WOT and NoScript.

In the last year, I have cleaned maybe 20 odd PCs of malware and viruses. They all had one thing in common. That's right - Internet Explorer was the browser of choice. It's shit, really it is.

Laptops now like $300.   So not the $2000.00 they were some years ago.

I am actually late on blowing this hard drive.... 2 years.... so I am on borrowed time.  ;-)

Actually, it’s worse than that; if you don't keep your security (OS as well as browser) up to date, you're potentially handing control of your machine over to someone(s) else, and those people may use it for charming little things like DDOS attacks (what if Alex's site was brought down by you? How would you live with yourself?[;)]), or remote hacking people's machines to get their financial details, so they lose money, or worst of all for propagating kiddie porn or suchlike*, all without your knowledge.

It's a really, really good idea to do regular updates. Seriously.

*The scumbags that do this kind of thing try to set up "virtual networks" of hacked machines so it can't be traced back to them. Don't let them – keep your machine as secure as possible.
