One minute you are questioning the tactics of kettling and the next you are insinuating that the police are disorganised thugs acting as violent individuals. It can't be both, if the police were getting involved with individual disputes the lines would disintegrate leading to no ability to kettle. Considering the difference in numbers they were amazingly well organised and did a good job.

Your expectation seems to be that I will just accept that. Your expectation seems to be that not only should I take responsibility for my own actions, but, if I am at a demonstration peacefully protesting, I should also take responsibility for the people who misbehave. Your expectation appears to be that if I get truncheoned, then I should just accept it, because someone had to get hit, and I was there, so why not me? This isn't a war,you know,'us' against 'them'. This isn't 'Gangs of New York'. The police are there to keep order, not start a ruck with troublemakers and hit out at everyone who isn't in a uniform.

They are a gang, the same as any other. They have a strong thuggish element institutionalised within them, and it's been like it for years.
