I believe Coco invented it but it's staple diet of every female wardrobe (when in doubt... LBD), has to be very simple or it doesn't work, under no circumstances it's allowed to look like an explosion in a sequin factory (but no clothes should by law be allowed even remotely like that)

I didn't say that, all I was saying was people then had the sense to not go out in conditions which could lead to their death unless they really had to. Slippy under foot, under tyre, wtf are you doing then, no grip means no control and not only risking your own life, but the poor fuckers around you.

The cars I used to use was a veritable pneumonia wagon, it even used to freeze on the inside of the wind screen, but boy, didn't one just know what the conditions were like. That coupled with no servo or powered anything made you very aware of what the conditions were like where you were driving. Now I see fuckwits driving along in the snow and ice as if it was a summer jaunt, their cars are insulating them from the reality of just what is not under the tyres, that thing called friction. But perhaps those stuck at transport terminals are that kind of driver, they expect everything to be working, because they don't notice the realities in their insulated worlds. Oh, and the vehicle I used to drive in snow and ice, was a 1970's VW transporter, perfect for the conditions, 50/50 weight distribution, high ground clearance, limited slip diff, and snow chains all around, it might have only been a 1600, but in snow and ice, it was unstoppable.

I always wondered what happened to my 2CV and my Alfa Spider after MOT parted us, seems you got them...

Yeah, I always wanted a 2cv, and that in the form of the Acadiane, the Dyane Van. A pal is pootling around down in Cornwall at the moment in a 1940's 2cv van shod with snow chains. His last one got written off last year by a copper trained in arctic driving, his jam butty slid into the 2cv at a roundabout and destroyed it, which was a pity, because the thing in the summer had just completed an 8000 mile tour of Europe and North Africa. I have a healthy respect for 2cv's

With the UK experiencing subzero temperatures, and the vulnerable faced with life-threatening conditions, the UK’s homeless have asked people to spare a thought for those facing long delays at the nation’s airports.

With some travellers forced to spend one whole night at Heathrow, the homeless have set up a charity that they hope will raise awareness of the plight currently being experienced by those eager to go on holiday over the Christmas period.

“Whilst the people that are homeless are genuinely real people, they can only try to imagine what it must be like to be faced with long delays for a flight to Antigua.” said a spokeshobo.

“I’ve heard stories that the W H Smith at Gatwick is running out of books, and all that’s left is an Alan Titchmarsh autobiography and a copy of The Da Vinci Code.”

“That sort of adversity is something that deserves 24×7 news coverage and the undivided attention of the nation.”


Miriam Chimpney-Waters has been at Heathrow for over 11 hours, and despite being stupid enough to think that her flight would be flying out as scheduled, is angry that she is suffering an inconvenience.

“It’s an outrage,” she blasted. “This has been an awful year for the middle classes, a real annus horribilis.”

“What’s even more frustrating is that I can’t blame Gordon Brown!”

The Met Office has warned of more snow and ice in many parts of the country, with one meteorologist comparing the chances of people getting their flights today with the liklihood of “Sue Pollard and Stephen Hawking taking the lead roles in a remake of Last Tango in Paris.”

Other tragic tales from over the weekend include:

* Emily and Gareth Worboys being faced with the real possibility that the Buzz Lightyear night light projector that they ordered for son Toby, may not arrive in time for Christmas.
* Margaret Frampton being unable to collect the goose she’s ordered from M&S for Christmas lunch, meaning she’d have to try again later in the week. Something she described as “A bit of a bloody pain actually”
* Roy Gardener not being able to play his usual round of golf on Sunday morning.

Oh he should work for free due to the weather...

My outside drain pipe is frozen and I had to pour tons of hot water down, I'm still taking my Xmas bonus....

Which is more then I can say for how a good number of execs would handle the matter.  It shows that he wants to improve the snags.
