To get back to the OP... What puzzles me is why the bright minds of the US seem to be utterly unable to comprehend that their efforts to manipulate the nations of the world to the advantage of the US, either by show of force or by economic means, is inevitably going to lead to some sort of kick-back. I mean, how dumb can the various US administrations be? Truth is, we're all lead by morons. Some of us even vote for the stupid bastards. But it's much easier to see the stupidity of others from the safety of one's own 'culture' than it is to identify the stupidity on one's own doorstep. For what it's worth, yes I agree, those who crusade against the US under the flag of Islam do not have a particularly attractive alternative to offer us. But I can't say I find the US cultural product especially appealing. God only knows how it might appear to those whose only experience of it is to be exploited for someone else's gain. And the high technology US brand of terrorism sucks just as much as a nail bomb hidden in a pair of shoes. I completely get why some people might think that the only way to fight the US fire of fundamentalism is with another equally bright, but opposing, fire.
