Edwynn -> RE: The South shall rise again??? (1/12/2011 8:54:43 AM)

I made no attempt whatsoever to come across as reasonable or enlightened to that poster. I had no such intention.

Those that have read and comprehended sufficiently most of my other posts here might call me a lot of things, but 'unenlightened' has not been thrown my  way yet.

He didn't say it wasn't wrong. Just that it wasn't illegal and so those who engaged in it weren't criminal. There is a significant difference between those two statements.

You've just put words in his mouth. Please go back and show us where Steven said "It's ok", "It's not wrong", "I accept inhumanity".

Acknowledging that history happened and that things were legal at the time is a far cry from blessing it and considering it "ok".

Ha ha.

That was my first reaction too.

I imagined a spankee being told to count, and so she does, for awhile ...

"ow! one ... ow! two ...  ow! three ... ow! four ... five ... four plus five is nine! ... ten ... eleven ...

"whats with that additude, miss?"

yuk yuk yuk

No, it's not.

It was addressed to that poster and that poster only.

I'll accept comment or questions on the matter from that poster.

I think you're confusing a public message board with email.

Edwynn -> RE: The South shall rise again??? (1/12/2011 9:24:32 AM)

OK , so it's not e-mail.

Your demonstrated notion of 'acceptable' and 'non-acceptable' bigotry is noted then.

Hey now!

Just because I have fantasies of getting a pedicure from Sarah Palin doesn't mean I'm ....

oh darn it,

Never mind.

Actually, I noted the misapplication of the term "irony."

The rest are the forgeries of your own imagination.

Yes, I find using the established language facilitates communication.

I can see why you would find that constricting.

FR - To whom ? You know who you are -

People who call people bigots ARE bigots.

So there :-)

Definition for the challenged; people who can't stand any mention of certain subjects are inferior. Grow a skin. The world is not all rosey and nice. Perhaps disney.com would be a better place for some. Adults are talking. Don't like the discussion ? Start a thread about warm fuzzy things. I didn't see anyone put down any race or creed. I didn't see anyone "spew filth", I didn't see anyone assert superiority.

Until now, because I JUST DID. I can discuss just about anything, even my (grrr) f-f-faults (LOL). So now I guess I'll be called a "bigot" for accepting "bigotry". In fact I AM bigoted. Highly bigoted - against politcal correctness and everything associated with it.

Really - those who came here just to bitch have used up 99% of their time. I am totally sick of people who think that an injustice to a group exomerates them for any and all wrongdoing, previous or since. It's a bunch of brainwashed bullshit. This is about secession, and namecallers add nothing. Like spammers. Oh, I'm also bigoted against spammers.

Sue me.

Measured in picometers. Do not expand beyond two of them in application of language.

Please.

Thank you.

Is that what this is about? i missed that from the OP, but then i think it was vaguely written. Sorry if i'm politically uninformed, but is anyone SERIOUSLY talking about succession again?

Rule -> RE: The South shall rise again??? (1/12/2011 11:10:32 AM)

What is succession?

tazzygirl -> RE: The South shall rise again??? (1/12/2011 11:15:57 AM)

A self-pronounced supergenius who doesnt know what succession means. [8|]

gungadin09 -> RE: The South shall rise again??? (1/12/2011 11:18:38 AM)

Basically, a state or group of states (confederacy) declares independence from the republic, to form it's own country. In the Civil War, the Southern states succeeded from the United States. The North (in other words, the federal government) declared war on the South. When the North won the war, it meant that the Southern states remained part of the "United States".

When people talk about the South "rising again", what they mean is that they will again try to win their independence from the rest of the country. i thought that, apart from some patriotic windbags, no one was seriously considering that as a possibility. But i could be wrong.

From wikipedia: Succession is the act or process of following in order or sequence. (Not to be confused with secession.)
