jlf1961 -> Right wing Conservatives and the tea party rewrite history... a LOT (1/23/2011 3:09:37 PM)

Over the last two years, I have noticed that right wing talking heads like Rush and Beck, as well as the tea party either have rewritten history to suit themselves, (when it comes to recent history,OR they flunked history so badly as to not grasp a few fundamental facts. The simple facts have spoken for themselves, and even when the principle people involved have admitted the facts, the right seems to be hell bent in perpetuating a lie. Let me start with the most obvious evidence that the conservatives have completely forgotten the history they were taught in school, OR that the failed the class and were graduated in order to make room for more students. Lets start with the right's constant comparison of the Democrats and Obama as Nazis. Okay, I guess that the conservatives get confused about what Nazi stands for, so for a refresher here it is, in German and the English translation. Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei or in English, the National Socialist Workers' Party. Now I can see where they may get confused, and in doing so, make themselves look like idiots. The Nazis were fascists, meaning Ultra Nationalist, actually in the case of the Nazi party, they added an ethnic part to their philosophy. As fascists, they were against the Enlightenment, liberalism, democracy, parliamentary politics, capitalism, industrialisation, Marxism and trade unionism. This information is in any high school or college modern history text. It is also found in any text that deals with the various forms of government. IN OTHER WORDS YOU IDIOTS, the Nazis were a RIGHT WING movement. Please note that the American Nazi movement and white supremacy movements are for the most part, Ultra conservative Nationalist movements. So to compare the liberals to Nazism is a flawed comparison, because it just does not jive with history. Now, we will look at the rewritting of modern history. According to the conservatives, the Affordable health care act is a government takeover of health care. Sorry, it is not. There is no part of the bill that puts the federal government in control of any form of health care. All that there is a government mandate to have people BUY health insurance. For the government to have taken over health care, it would have had to make the public option available and the ONLY option for health insurance. The conservatives also claim that we invaded Iraq for two reasons, neither of which were true (even the former heads of the Military and CIA intelligence agencies have said ON RECORD that neither reason was true when given.) First reason: The Iraqi government is developing WMD's The ONLY WMD's found in Iraq after the invasion was non-viable chemical warfare rounds that were laying around in the sun. It was agreed that the shells were probably duds from the Iraq/Iran war. There were no facilities found to produce more chemical agents, the UN had verified this fact for years during inspections after the first gulf war, and with the destruction of the Iraqi reactor and nuclear facilities by the Israelis, they had no nuclear weapon program. The CIA and Military Intelligence had passed this information to President Bush before the war started and he either A) ignored it, or B) chose to lie about it. In his book, former President Bush ADMITTED there were no viable weapons of mass destruction found in Iraq. The second reason given to invade Iraq was that they supported Al Qaeda, which was proven false by the CIA, and consequently by the BBC, AP, and Reuters. The truth of the matter, as presented by the CIA and later by the news agencies was that Saddam did not trust Osama Bin Laden, and had regularly had Al Qaeda operatives caught in Iraq executed. Not much in the way of showing support, would you not agree? Then there is TARP, which was championed by then House minority leader John Boenher, who actually got emotional about it. Now the conservatives say that TARP was a democrat idea, even though it was passed by congress during the Bush administration and SIGNED into law by President Bush. If it was a democrat idea, why the hell didnt Bush veto the damn bill? I am sure there are more examples but those are the ones that seem to make the most in the news and talk shows.
