ORIGINAL: cuckoldmepls I saw this on the news too. Funny how they didn't mention why these rolling blackouts were occurring. First of all, it is true that almost all new power plants especially nuclear power plants have been blocked by the democrats. We had the black fox nuclear power plant blocked by the activist in the 70's. Now it would cost hundreds of billions to build the same power plant. I also find it funny how Obama supposedly wants a few more nuclear power plants but yet there is nothing on the drawing board or at least the red tape is not being eliminated to expedite construction. I never believed anyone could get facts so wrong as to be either lies or just stupidity. For the record, since 2007 there have been 21 applications to the NRC for the building of new nuclear power plants, for a total of 30 reactors. The applications are far enough along that the Shaw Group and Westinghouse would construct a factory at the Port of Lake Charles at Lake Charles, Louisiana to build components for the Westinghouse AP1000 nuclear reactor. On October 23, 2008, it was reported that Northrop Grumman and Areva were planning to construct a factory in Newport News, Virginia to build nuclear reactors. If there was "so much red tape" delaying the applications, why would two companies be building new factories to build the fucking reactors. In 2010, in order to facilitate (cuckoldmepls that means "make easier") President Barack Obama announced loan guarantees for two new reactors at Georgia Power's Vogtle NPP. \ Also in 2010: Two other reactors in Texas, four in Florida and one in Missouri have all been "moved to the back burner, mostly because of uncertain economics". (cuckoldmepls that means they cant find investors who are interested in putting money into the project) Constellation Energy has "pulled the plug" on building a new reactor at its Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant despite a promised $7.5 billion loan guarantee from the Department of Energy". The Federal government guaranteed the loan to build the plant, which means the government would be the one holding the bag of the power company defaulted on the laons. (cuckoldmepls that shows the government was doing what it could to make it possible to build the plant) Exelon has withdrawn its application for a license for a twin-unit nuclear plant in Victoria County, Texas, citing lower electricity demand projections. Ground has been broken on two new nuclear plants with a total of four reactors. The Obama administration is seeking the expansion of a loan guarantee program but as of December 2010 has been unable to commit all of the loan guarantee money already approved by Congress. Since talk a few years ago of a “nuclear renaissance”, gas prices have fallen and old reactors are getting license extensions. quote:
ORIGINAL: cuckoldmepls Secondly, the republicans have now done an about face on unlimited immigration realizing that our infrastructure is unable to keep up with unlimited population growth. Democrats still haven't admitted that. We can't even afford to maintain the roads, bridges, and schools we already have, and democrats want to expand them all for Illegal Aliens. cuckoldmepls, isnt Senator John McCain from Arizona a democrat? Oh, wait, now I remember, he is a REPUBLICAN! quote:
McCain Proposes Amnesty Again AND Again Do you remember the McCain-Kennedy Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill? Do you remember the last time John McCain tried to force Amnesty on America? That was back in 2007… …After 12 to 40 million illegal aliens had invaded the U.S. from across the Mexican border, John McCain proposed Amnesty! …When the economy crashed, causing the largest recession and loss of jobs since the Great Depression, John McCain proposed Amnesty (and is still pushing for illegals to come to America and take the jobs that U.S. citizens desperately need.)! …And as the flow of drugs from South America and Mexico across the U.S. border increased to record levels, John McCain proposed Amnesty! source quote:
ORIGINAL: cuckoldmepls Third, natural gas prices have soared over the past 20 years due to unlimited population growth. People are resorting to electric heaters to save money which are putting an abnormally high demand on power requirements in the winter. Table of Natural gas prices, supply side. As of January 2011, cost of natural gas to the supplier was about $4.50 per thousand cubic feet, the record was $15.38 per thousand cubic feet. Now, as for consumer prices, the highest rates paid for gas service is $18 to $22 per thousand cubic feet on the east coast and the gulf states with the exception of Texas which is between $14-$16 per thousand cubic feet, which makes the price per cubic foot in the most expensive states $.45 per cubic foot. Pretty cheap when you think about it. Oh, by the way, when you compare the cost of operating a nuclear power plant to a gas power plant, it is way cheaper to operate a gas fueled plant, you dont have to cover the cost for dangerous waste products. The cost for building a gas fueled power plant is a lot less, and for investors this means a faster return. It is far cheaper to have gas heat, water heater and cooking than it is to have total electric. Trust me I live in a totally electric home. cuckoldmepls, if you would actually do some research you would not look like such an idiot all the time.
