..... Whose bank account it wound up in, they couldn't have cared less.

Panda, you bolstered my point. That's exactly why we need to end all foreign aid.
Exactly how much was Mubarak's salary as president for life that he could amass $50-$70 Billion?..........

He didn't get that whole 70 Billion from us. He, his family and his cronies were skimming the entire economy.

London has always been about empire and the east india company - spreading maritime law the globe over.

Not really, no.

London was founded long before the Romans got here (Geoffrey of Monmouth claims that the original Londoners were refugees from the sack of Troy, but most later historians disagree with that). The East India company was granted it's charter around the turn of the eighteenth century, by which time imperialist expansion was already well established.

Your statement is bollocks because the dates you've implied don't add up. If you're that clueless about history, you should try to avoid discussing it...

This just in...

Losing patience, Obama challenges Egypt's leaders

Funny how Obama quit kissing foreign leaders' shoes and groveling at their feet only to dictate what must be done to please their superior.

And how incompetant are and were the people in our govt to let this knowingly go on?
If you or I worked for a company and knowingly let something similar happen we'd be fired and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Boy, the crowds in Cairo are being whipped up into a frenzy and CNN says that their growing as the morning proceeds.
Someone should write a book about what "not" to do in such a situation. The whole Obama administration gets a big fat "F".
I guess noone told Obama that he shouldn't be making "public" disparaging remarks in times like these.
I'm getting visions of helocopters crashing in the desert.

Come onnnnn,.....doesn't anyone in that crowd have an RPG hidden under their robes?

Funny how he is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

No matter what he does you will be opposed to it.

Funny how Obama applauds and supports the anti-government protesters in Cairo but ignored the anti-government protesters in Tehran and, moreover, Washington DC.

Interesting how being damned if he does and damned if doesn't goes with the territory.

If he admitted he's a usurper and resigned immediately I wouldn't be oppposed to it.

Sanity -> RE: What is the Muslim Brotherhood (2/11/2011 7:09:20 AM)

The thing is, he should make up his mind. Is he going to bow and grovel before them, or dictate to them as their lord and master.

mnottertail -> RE: What is the Muslim Brotherhood (2/11/2011 7:10:17 AM)

or listen to the ignorant babble. or not.

It does go with the territory.

You are going to have people opposed no matter what.

What is funny is when the same people oppose him no matter what side of the issue he takes.

Mubarak just stepped down!  Leadership was handed over to the military for now.  The Eqyptians are celebrating their freedom in the streets of Cairo as we all argue.  [:D]

Have to wonder... and I never heard... how is the woman doing who was trapped in her apartment? I believe she is like 80, a retired nurse who moved to Egypt and could not get out of her apartment.

And as I sit here and watch Fox News I am being told Obama "pulled the rug out from under Mubarak" and Karl Rove is telling me how Obama has to repair the damage he has done by abandoning one of our allies.

So much for that spreading democracy thing.

Oh, and look, they done it all by themselves.  Makes you wonder why we invaded Iraq all over again, huh?

Is this the one? If not, it's still an interesting story, she fended off attackers with a knife and a pot of boiling water....

kdsub -> RE: What is the Muslim Brotherhood (2/11/2011 9:52:27 AM)

It is typical with this forum that people take sides politically and find themselves defending an organization like the Muslim Brotherhood or blaming our government for the events in Egypt.

As a government and a people we need to take these events seriously. Egypt has been the true anchor of peace in the middle east… Not Saudi Arabia not the United States not Jordon… It is Egypt and their stance of acceptance of Israel that has kept the Iran’s and Syria’s of this world at bay.

We should be worried about the Muslim Brotherhood…we should be worried about the Egyptian army…we should be worried on how this revolution will affect the status quo as well as the Egyptian people.

There is a chance that in the confusion and lawlessness of revolution that a radical Muslim regime could take control… this would be a disaster. We must do everything we can to help the Egyptian people form a government of their choice according to wishes of the majority.

We must learn to live with their decision and support them if we want to preserve our influence in the region.

Agreed, with the exception that the foreign policy amateurs in this administration already have done irreparable harm to our relationships throughout the ME. When you throw a 30 year ally under the bus you have no more allies.

kdsub -> RE: What is the Muslim Brotherhood (2/11/2011 12:56:45 PM)

Perhaps we should not have been supporting him for these 30 years...Look I understand we must protect our investments and oil but we can do it by supporting the people just as well as a dictator.

A free, strong, and prosperous Egypt is not a thread to the Saudi’s or anyone else including Israel.

LOL, thank god it wasnt republican amateurs.   We throw allies under the bus consistently.  Pavali, Battista, Saddam, King Hussein, and the list goes on and on.

You should read up on diplomacy, government, current events, history and logic, because you don't seem to have a very good grounding or understanding of any, and you are completely wrong 100% of the time about everything you post on, and are easily refuted.

Whether we should have been or not is irrelevant. That decision was made by every administration, Dem and Rep, for those 30 years, and that is why the perception that we will abandon a 30 year ally is so damaging. Obama could have accomplished everything he hoped to in closed door discussions with Mubarak and not made his waffling obvious to the entire world.

We send the same message that we send to our allies when we announce deadlines for troop withdrawal....that we are unreliable allies who will buckle under the pressure of public opinion.
