The fact that they are not to be impeded in their efforts to arrive to the legislature building means that by fleeing their duties, they are guilty of malfeasance. If they are not showing up for work, yet are still receiving the money, then they are stealing. It does not get simpler than that. I would disagree, Aylee. Part of their JOB is to protect the voices of those whom they serve amongst their constituency who believe as they do -- and if protecting and giving voice to that constituency requires drastic measure such as leaving the state to assure that that voice is heard, then it would be malfeasance for them to NOT use whatever peaceful methods are possible to prevent that kind of suppression of their constituency. Democratic government is NOT about "majority rules", so the argument that "most" of the people want XYZ simply does not fly. These people are charged with assuring that the voice of the people is heard and that justice is served in legislating this country to protect the rights of ALL of our members -- so these people were DOING their job. I think that's why we're seeing allout war, 0bama0 sending in the dogs, etc. This is the precedent, and it's going to be a long hot summer leading up to the 2012 budget fight. There is the possibility for serious unrest. Not a probability, but certainly a possibility.
