Yet you still dont address the fact that Walker implemented much spending before targeting the unions.

"What I find outrageous is that we require teachers to be highly educated and highly accomplished "

WTF gave you that idea???????

"It is certainly not for the extravagant salaries"

Sure it is.
You might compare the average teachers salary (in Wis, or generally) to the average earnings of other citizens with four year degrees.

It's substancially lower. When I quit teaching, it was for a 50% raise to work in the private sector.

Obviously, yours weren't [:D]

As I understand the Wis law, the Governor has the right literally to drag them into the appropriate chamber. My info is that he has instructed the State Police to bring them in.
Problem is, their authority to do so ends at the state line.
Which is why these cowards fled to Ill.

truckinslave -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/19/2011 6:10:52 AM)

There is always at least an undercurrent of violence to union activities. I'm from coal country.....

truckinslave -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/19/2011 6:15:00 AM)

"they are guilty of malfeasance. "

One wonders if recall elections are possible in Wis.

"They also have to pursue continuing education which..."

Is a joke. Takes my wife a 2 or 3 day seminar type class every two or three years.

" They're expected to teach at a very high standard"

Which is why they fight merit pay and make it impossible to fire those who cannot even teach to an acceptably low level.

Most of these people could not make in the private sector half what they make in the public.

truckinslave -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/19/2011 6:20:32 AM)

Sure it's paid vacation. My wife gets 24 bi-monthly checks each year.....

As I have said so many times, libs are in fact much more disposed to violence...

2 words to show that is utter BULLSHIT.

Oklahoma City.

Oops, I'm sorry, you are the one that doesnt think those who murder doctors are violent.

truckinslave -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/19/2011 6:28:17 AM)

Show me a post here wishing physical violence on 0bama0. Or Clinton. I loathed Clinton.
There are two posts in this one thread wishing violence upon Gov Walker.

"Especially since there is a good chance the teacher is more intelligent than the executive."

You and I know different teachers, different executives, or both.
Or you're being dliberately stupid.

Maybe, the only teachers you know are the ones you live with.

There's a difference between the wishing and the doing. As I've said before. Right wing terrorists have a higher body count over the last 30 years in the US by about 2 orders of magnitude.

That means they KILL people. Indeed, you have posted on here advocating the cold blooded murder of doctors.

truckinslave -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/19/2011 6:33:44 AM)

I glanced at the figures providied by your site; didn't pursue it further. I (of course) don't trust the site, and fail to see how an accusation of $140 million dollars in new spending (which may or may nort be necessary; I'm not going to spend the week learning the minutiae of Wis politics) causes a two-year deficit of over 3 billion.
They're not in the fix they're in because of $140 million in new spending. Typical deflection; typical strawman. Sorry I wasted this much time on it, frankly.

truckinslave -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/19/2011 6:35:27 AM)

Okay. There's one little datum.

Public school teachers here make 140% of what similarly educated people do.

tazzygirl -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/19/2011 6:36:16 AM)

lol

typical

Walker claims there is a $137 million deficit

Ask Walker.

truckinslave -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/19/2011 6:38:47 AM)

HW, I didn't say we weren't better at it. We are- better trained, more experienced, better equipped.

It's just not our first, kneejerk reaction; unlike, say, for example, it evidently is for DYB.

Where is your reference on that?

When I was teaching, a starting teacher (23,000 in 1988) in Miami/Dade county, FL made less than a starting garbage man.

When I left teaching for the private sector, it was for a 50% raise in salary (26K to 39K). This was not atypical for my colleagues in the field who left.
