With a bold move, Wisconsin has voted... and its not good for collective bargainings.

But, with recall efforts under way for 8 Republican Senators and 8 Democrats, as well as a recall in the works for Walker... did Wisconsin win or lose?

Only for public unions taz.

Wisconsin wins.

tazzygirl -> RE: Wisconsin loses collective bargaining (3/9/2011 7:56:00 PM)

With the police and fire as the exceptions.

kdsub -> RE: Wisconsin loses collective bargaining (3/9/2011 8:07:38 PM)

Tazzy the only way to fight this is for public workers to go out on a mass strike.. they will have to do it at the risk of their jobs because the union can not sanction the strike and stay out of jail and not be fined.

It is tough but the only thing that will work.

Butch

Im curious about an appeal.

Real0ne -> RE: Wisconsin loses collective bargaining (3/9/2011 8:19:15 PM)

to whom?

the legislature here is god GOD God!

they even claim they can abrogate the common law of the land here.  (and they do)

but then thats what "sovereign" states are all about!

tazzygirl -> RE: Wisconsin loses collective bargaining (3/9/2011 8:29:00 PM)

The same way, I would imagine, that they are appealing the health care law.

KenDckey -> RE: Wisconsin loses collective bargaining (3/9/2011 8:32:04 PM)

Now the people have a say in the running of their government without the approval of the union bosses.   I like it.   And I didn't read anything about the loss of their civil service protections.  Protections that most non-governmental employees don't enjoy.

I agree, its the only card those folks have left to play. Stop EVERYTHING. There was a reason for collective bargaining, and now that that's been eliminated, the state workers should go on strike and grind the state to a halt. Their jobs are already forfeit, now that the Republicans (who do not represent the people of Wisconsin) can run rough-shot over state workers.

What is really appalling to me, is how underhand and unethical a move this was for Republicans. They didn't do this for the budget. That arguement was long since over. This was simply to remove US Citizens, the ability to represent themselves against meglomanics.

If they choose to strike, you better believe there will be alot of support going their way from Americans across the country.

tazzy, it's not every generation that is able to witness their country spiraling backwards at such a fast rate.
Unbelievable
I keep wondering just how far down are country will end up going?

tazzygirl -> RE: Wisconsin loses collective bargaining (3/9/2011 8:38:38 PM)

Hold on to your hat and look towards Indiana.

Not only Indiana, we are heading towards 1932.
They want to make us all dirt poor.
Of course this will be appealed, we all know that.
Many lawyers will have a field day.

FR

Workers lost rights, and people were demonized/penalized for devoting their careers to public service.

Definitely a GOP win.

I'm thinking the goal is the Gilded Age (1880s-1890s).

Now we just need to tackle the issue of Walker's 'bosses'.   Will you like that outcome just as much?  Got a plan for that?

They have nothing to look forward to, tho. Whats the next 'prize'?

When things don't turn around for the taxpayin workin man (and wont - do they really think jobs sent behind the bamboo curtain are really coming back?), who will be the next scapegoat?

Its all swirling towards the drain.

lol
I have been wondering how close we can get to the horrific working conditions we had pre-unions.
I am thinking a cross between pre-labor laws and actual slavery.
That would put us between 1860's and 1940's!!
You win, your prize will be a kick in the ass, a pay cut of 50 percent, and working until you drop dead at 90.
Don't depend on social security, retirement or Medicare!
You
