You wish! Well it's not going to be that easy. All of them  Republicans are going to be recalled, especially Mr. Walker. And people in Wisconsin, hopefully the country, will not vote Republican for a generation. And you will have Gov. Walker to think it.

Stalemate broken. They strike, they get fired, and the whole pension problem goes away. There are plenty of school districts that have laid off young teachers that would love a crack at those jobs, even if they do have to take a sustainable benefits package, and you can clear 20-40% deadwood out of any public works dept, anywhere, anytime. Most likely, the ones making the most noise will be coming from that group anyway.

What part of "public servant" are we not clear on?

A couple of quotes from your link:

"There was a time when government work offered lower salaries than comparable jobs in the private sector but more security and somewhat better benefits. These days, government workers fare better than private-sector workers in almost every area"

"One would think that a “3 percent at 50” retirement would be a good enough deal for most people. Most workers in the private sector would probably jump at such an opportunity. But many public safety officials aren’t satisfied with a system that allows them to retire with 90 percent or more of their final year’s pay at young ages."

You notice a theme here?  The private sector got screwed out of similar perks by their corporate bosses, so now apparently its the public sector's turn.

Its a pity party being held by the "new poor" of the private sector.

They got the wrong enemy in their gun sights.

Is it the public sector's fault that the private sector was first sold on the idea of a steak dinner that turned out to be a popcorn fart all along?

that is precisely the way the people look at it here and no one is crying for them

Yes, its well known, that he created the financial problems for this year, by giving tax breaks to large companies. Yes, if he actually had a pair between his legs, he'd admit he was F-ing retarded. Failing that, he'll blame the state's problems on the public servants that didn't do ANYTHING to create the problem.

Heck, if they raised taxes, this wouldn't be an issue. But, we all know that Republicans can not even say, spell, or even use the word 'taxes' in a coherent sentence....

Real0ne -> RE: Wisconsin loses collective bargaining (3/9/2011 9:57:05 PM)

Its the high assed taxes that have been and continue to drive biz out of this state.

grow the economy?  wtf is that?  inflation is not high enough for you yet?

It is if youre trying to attract business and grow the economy, which that strategy beats the Dem alternative (driving out business and choking the economy) every time its tried.

140 million in tax cuts... without a way to make up the shortfall they were already projecting. Not very fiscally sound to me.

HERE is a good link to read... it is one of many that will confirm its facts.

Butch

care to point out the FACTS?  I did not see any

In link after link I researched they agreed that the government workers made less ...significantly less then private workers, in jobs requiring the same education.

so because a few what reporters agreed that makes it a "fact"?  Sorry you are wrong if that is what you think.

I listened to many people talk with the man and you people are all smoking just as most posters on forums know little to nothing about what they are talking about and only discuss "news" opinions and feel as if they have a clue.

you all need to get in the trenches and experience the real world, and I leave you all with that thought.

good and exceptional teachers who were on strike.

Right along with the useless ones who should have given it up long ago, and are holding rooms full of students hostage to their pensions. The good ones can apply to get their old jobs back. Did all the airplanes fall out of the sky when Reagan fired the controllers? Gee. There will be big nasty bump in the road, and the elected officials of the state will have to find a way to get themselves back on track. I'm sure there will be whiny bitches in the rooms spouting the same crap you are, if it comes to that.

Please don't tell me how tough it is to be a teacher. Personally, I don't think teaching should be a career at all. There is to much burnout, and too much casual entitlement as people get lazy and forget who the fuck they work for.

Unsustainable pay and benefit packages is a problem across the nation

Absolutely, its a problem.

Its too bad, tho, that the private sector got boinked 3 decades earlier, creating the 'unsustainable' nature of today's problem.

But absolutely, blame the people who did NOT get conned into thinking that they would be invited into the boss man's elite country club 30 years ago.

kdsub -> RE: Wisconsin loses collective bargaining (3/9/2011 10:13:21 PM)

Most of the links I read were economists that were commenting…What they were saying made sense to me...but I and they could be wrong. Until I see contrary comparative evidence I will tend to believe them.

Do tell us more of those magical times, Eterna, when private sector employees were given a pass on traffic tickets. Did it rain lollipops, too?

I notice how you don't try to deny that they expect to keep a better deal than the people they work for have.

Again, if the people they work for were dumb enough to give up their own share to their bosses, then they deserve the shit end of the stick.

Absolutely.  Lets bail them private sector boys out, too, for their bad decisions of decades ago that have blown up in their faces today.  Lets give them 'relief' from the past poor decisions of their own hand.

Everyone's doing it, so why not?

Survival of the brightest, smartest and fittest?.. that doesn't apply here, you say?   The dumbest aren't supposed to inherit the shit end of the stick?

The private sector people simply got different perks.  Personally, I once got a leased sedan courtesy of my employer, I guess my skills dictated that.

But if the public sector folks dont pick on me for my car, then I don't care about them getting a pass on parking tickets.

See, that's how its supposed to work.

Complaining about it is so..... trival.....and often instigated by the private sector have-nots. "Politics of envy" and all that...

It's unacceptable. Many people will never vote Republican again. Walker political career is finished. He will never be successful as a national candidate even if he wins a nomination in the Republican Party.

At least we can count on Donovans Brain to state the exact opposite of reality.
