soul2share -> RE: Let's Talk About Cats. (3/20/2011 10:00:54 AM)

Had me an unscheduled little adventure this morning...had to go to the store and get cat food for the KB beastie.  I get it, load it into the car, and just after I lock the door and slam it closed, I realize that the keys were still sitting on the seat......I NEVER do that....I make sure I check to make sure I have the key before closing the door.  My purse and phone were also securely locked inside, so I couldn't even call for help, or buy a wire coathanger.  The Security dude patrolling the lot has no slim jim, nor does he even HAVE a number to a locksmith...WTF is her there for?????

So, I'm standing there at my car, yanking on the handles...I dunno, maybe I think it will open mysteriously.....anyway, the gentleman comes by, sees my problem, goes back into the store and buys pliers and 6 coathangers and after about 30 minutes, gets my door opened for me.  I could have kissed him!!!!  He wouldn't let me pay for the tools and the hangers, not even for his time.  I don't even have a name....he was just some Good Samaritan passing by when I needed him most.

I swear, if I see that damn Murphy, I'm gonna shove his laws right up his ass!!!!!

At least, when I did get home with the food, KB ate it right up and came in and head bumped me to tell me "thanks, Mom....I was HONGREE!"

Phoenixpower -> RE: Let's Talk About Cats. (3/20/2011 11:42:04 AM)

OMG soul, I feel for you.

The same shit happened to me about 8-10 years ago where I went to the shop, loaded my stuff onto my seat next to the driver, locked the door, went to my side...and realised the keys were inside...I was no happy bunny when I had to walk that damn steep hill up to my parents house to get the spare key my mum had on her bunch of keys, once she got home from work...

and yes....those damn nice head butts [:)]

soul2share -> RE: Let's Talk About Cats. (3/20/2011 6:33:43 PM)

I actually saw that some time ago on some channel...I thought it was the greatest!

Of course, those head butts aren't quite what I get from KB!

Phoenixpower -> RE: Let's Talk About Cats. (3/20/2011 6:34:19 PM)

OMG thats awesome Kirata, thanks for sharing [:)]

Reminds me on my neighbours dog, when I stopped contact with that neighbour their dog still came at times to me to say hello....which was nice, that she showed me to still know me and wanted to say hello...

soul2share -> RE: Let's Talk About Cats. (3/20/2011 6:36:58 PM)

I'm a little bummed, two of my three outside furbabies haevn't shown up for dinner now for two days....Sissy and Mamacat are MIA, and the trap that was behind the bushes is missing.  That part may be coincidence, there hasn't been any food inside the things for at least a year, and I'm not sure when the trap was removed.  But still, all 3 of them live in the bushes here, and they are always johnny on the spot for their nightly dinner.

I can only hope that nothing has happened, and that they will show up soon, but I don't know how long that will keep me from just bursting out in tears.  I was getting them used to me so I could snag them and get them spayed and try to find homes for them.

Maybe you could (in case you havent) check online home pages from local shelters, in case someone catched them and brought them in there. I sometimes do that in the hope to find grannys cat (she vanished when she passed away) even when i know its ridicoulus to do so so many years later...I simply know that granny would be happy if I would unexpectedly locate her, in case she isn't with her in spirit.

Do you know who had moved that trap there?

SorceressJ -> RE: Let's Talk About Cats. (3/20/2011 6:47:58 PM)

I haz teeny weeny cats in my bedroom closet. 2 of 'em..

saltie -> RE: Let's Talk About Cats. (3/20/2011 6:48:50 PM)

Try and find out if there is a animal rescue called snaps in your area. They dont have shelters though. They trap cats and take them to the vet to make sure they are ok and then try to find somebody to take them in to they are adoped. If nobody can they are released. Once they got a cat who was out all hours of the day and night. Thought was homeless but found out he wasnt. The person wasnt upset he was fixed. If you cant find out about snaps in your area you can write me at my name and will see if i can find out for you.

soul2share -> RE: Let's Talk About Cats. (3/20/2011 7:32:28 PM)

I found Sissy...she was in the trap in the bushes on the other side of the building......key word being was.  She's out and fed now......I have no idea how long she'd been in there.  So I'm sure the landlord will ask if I had anything to do with the trap being sprung....and I'll lie thru my teeth.  She was telling me all about it, but now she won't even come close to me.  And I'd worked so hard to get her to even let me reach out to her!  I hope she learned her lesson, her brother did.

FelineFae -> RE: Let's Talk About Cats. (3/20/2011 8:12:36 PM)

Wow, poor thing. Does the landlord not understand how cats work as pest control ?

Phoenixpower -> RE: Let's Talk About Cats. (3/20/2011 8:51:02 PM)

glad you found one of them [&o][:)]

soul2share -> RE: Let's Talk About Cats. (3/20/2011 9:38:13 PM)

No, Feline, he just wants them gone.  The lady next door is the one who feeds ALL of the neighborhood ferals, she has at least a dozen over there.  I just had Mama, Toby and Sissy.  I have a feeling that Mama is gone, she lived in the bushes and always came out whenever she heard me outside.  There is one other friendly feral that is going to pop out her kittens any minute....she's had at least 3 litters since I've moved in.  Since she's friendly and will come to me, I'm going to try to get her later to get her fixed thru the trap and release here.  I'm probably going to have to go get drugs in order to get Sissy in a carrier, Toby should just hop in for me.  I'm hoping to find homes for them.....or to see if maybe PetSmart can help place them.

I just hate people who dump animals......rat bastards......I hope there is a special place in hell for them.

FelineFae -> RE: Let's Talk About Cats. (3/20/2011 9:42:04 PM)

i understand. Most members of my family are known " Dump Houses ". Horrible name, really. The people in the area know if they dump an animal there, it will be taken in by my family. i joke that i was raised by wild house-cats.

Ok, as much as I love cats, I have to throw this out:

Cats are one of the few animals that hunt for fun, not just for food. They are also one of the biggest problems when it comes to maintaining small, local ecosystems because they will kill EVERYTHING. They kill birds, reptiles, and amphibians, along with the rodents (anywhere from the mice and rats that people want gone to squirrels, rabbits, etc.) He may be well aware of how they work as 'pest control' and be unhappy that the cats are killing all the local small wildlife ...

soul2share -> RE: Let's Talk About Cats. (3/20/2011 9:46:43 PM)

Well, they are all pretty well fed here, so they don't hunt much.  There are birds everywhere here, not too many squirrels, but I don't think the trees around here are the best for nesting.......when they all lost their leaves in the winter, there weren't any nests left behind.  I do know that they seem to like to nest in attics, and do a bit of damage that way.

The cats do tend to chase off the raccoons tho.....I've seen some pass thru the yards, and they are the size of small dogs!

They're cute enough to get away with it too.
