Something very much in line with the treaties the US signed, and the Senate approved, with the UN.

I must have missed the part where the US congress declared war on Libya...

Did you also miss the part where they declared war on Iraq, Afghanistan, North Vietnam and North Korea?

They were all undeclared wars.

What the hell is a yicket quota?

Or do I really want to know?

If ppl will forgive me for straying back on topic for a moment:

One unexpected but agreeable side effect of the UN intervention in Libya has been to embolden Syrians and Jordanians to take to the streets in pursuit of their basic rights.

Syrians in particular are facing a regime that has been chillingly ruthless in the past* - to demand democracy or human rights there is literally to place your life on the line. Their courage is astonishing.

But Mike! "Human Rights" were being violated!

Maybe you havent noticed but this isnt about "Human Rights"..... Its about preventing genocide on a major scale.

Not to worry though, carry on scoring cheap political shots for the "Independents"

That's bullshit. Hillary Clinton was on CNN a few hours ago and she said it was a "Major Human Rights Issue" and that "we" averted a major slaughter! To hear her speak you'd think we'd stopped another Holocaust!
And the news is getting worse! Now *SYRIA* is having a civil war and CNN said that the situation is, "deteriorating rapidly!"
Am (I) to roll out of my bed in the morning only to find that (I) am responsable for the "Human Rights" of SYRIANS??? WTF!!!!
And that's not all, YEMAN is "deteriorating rapidly" too according to CNN! Polite, are you busy? Would *YOU* mind being responsable for the "Human Rights" of YEMANIS?
Instead of dropping bombs in Libya we should be air dropping in ***TENTS*** to Japan! They showed people in Japan living in hovels made of bushes and broken bits of lumber in the fuckin' WINTER!!!
I guess they don't get no "Human Rights!" How long has it been since the Tsunami, 3, 4 weeks?
And Obama/Clinton/ Exon-Mobil are starting wars!
Those people are fucking *Insane!*

Next time you're down the pub ask your mates if they should be responsable for the "Human Rights" of people in Yeman, Libya and Syria.

Dont talk to me about humanitarian aid, not with your previous stance on the issue "Aid begins at home right "

As for Libya and the UK you wont here much dissent over here, not from any political party.

Marini -> RE: Is it too late for No-fly zone to be effective? (3/26/2011 7:31:34 AM)

President Obama is planning to speak to the nation about US involvement in Libya.

Here is a quote from the link I am posting, " Asked how long the mission could last, Carney said, “The mission … is to protect Libyan civilians, and that mission continues as long as Libyan civilians are threatened by Qaddafi’s forces."

President Obama to address the nation about US involvement in Libya on Monday.

We aren't saying we are involved in the war, but it looks like we will continue to remain actively "involved".

Gingrich grateful Sarkozy not distracted by basketball brackets...

"Gingrich Opposes Big Bosnian AidNovember 18, 1994Rep. Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.), the future speaker of the House of Representatives, said Friday he would oppose a multibillion-dollar U.S. aid package for Bosnia's Muslim-led government, calling the war-torn country "a European problem." Gingrich, who is expected to take over as House speaker Jan. 4, said that the overwhelming portion of any aid package for Bosnia would have to come from wealthy European nations. "I can't imagine, given the current budget constraints, that this administration would commit itself to $5 billion in aid to Bosnia," the Georgia Republican said.""

Gingrich Proposes U.S.-Led Force for Bosnia July 19, 1995
""This is the one thing that concerns me about Bosnia," Gingrich said. "When directly challenged, we must be victorious. The notion of a small band of barbarians directly taking on the civilized democracies and winning is a threat to the entire survival and stability of this planet. And we should respond to it with whatever level of coercion is ultimately required to communicate the fact that we are serious people."Gingrich, who has not advocated the use of U.S. ground troops in the Balkans before, did not try to spell out the military implications of his argument. But he said the United States maintains its military Establishment to put muscle behind its foreign policy.""

I guess we're not going to answer questions.
So, all your mates ready to "suit up" and pick up a rifle are they?
" FOR BRITISH PETROLEUM! HERE, HERE!"...(Oops, we meant "human rights.")

Oh, and I'm against "foreign aid, *LARGE CHECKS* not "humanitarian aid" like in Haiti and Japan. Apples and oranges.

I answered you okay Pops, as usual you didnt like what you heard. Like I said, no one in the UK is moaning about saving lives in Libya.

If you're talking to me, I read the Gingrich article and showed a set of his quotes (from back in the Clinton administration) that showed him talking out of both sides of his mouth, something he's done a lot in past.

And as usual no you didn't.
Are *you* responsable for the "human rights" of people in every country in the world?
I know, I know,... just try and answer as honestly as you can. The questions will get tougher as we go along.
I checked my mail today and guess what,..... no notice from Washington that I'm responsable for the "human rights" of foreign nationals!
Should I expect it in oh,....a fortnight? Wouldn't one think that they'd notify people?
Did you Brits get your notices yet?
And no-one is "moaning" about saving lives in Libya because we've been doing just the opposite!
Watch the footage on the "telly"; "Bombs away!" "Ka-BOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!"

Marini -> RE: Is it too late for No-fly zone to be effective? (3/30/2011 9:12:19 AM)

How long is it going to take the USA/NATO to supply the rebels with the weaponry needed? This decision has to be made quickly or it will be game over.

mnottertail -> RE: Is it too late for No-fly zone to be effective? (3/30/2011 9:16:06 AM)

And the slippery slope continues.   Even supplying weaponry, someone needs to show them how to use it, but FAR MORE IMPORTANTLY, tactics.  We only need to look as far as al Queda and throwing the Russians out of Afghanistan to see that weaponry is not as important as tactics.

Just once I hope we stay the hell out of that side...Isn't it about time for the Legion to step up? If we go in it will backfire for sure... Just watch the Arab League do an about face..I say it is about time to target the asshole and his sons himself and save a lot of lives...or get the hell out.

Damn why won't the rest of the world listen to me?

I am just spitballing here Maj.   I am really really up in the air about that.

Idea is here, you punch me dead in the goddamn face, I am gonna kill ya.

We kill the leaders of countries as a matter of stated goals and policies, without global (and I mean right down to the virgin islands) agreement,  and how we gonna get any sort of pissed off when they casters up our leaders?

I can never come to grips with that one, Butch, everybody is fucking oppressed. But I try.

Sarge.
