I ponder that you are a hypo chrondriac.  But try to convince me that your woes are earth shattering.

Is it true that misery loves company?

Pick which ever answers apply to you.

and denote in detail how you feel at this hour.

a couple of the choices worked for me in theory, but I am not a hypochondriac, as I have legit medical reasons for what I am experiencing.

What's it called when one is raised by a hypochondriac and now as an adult has to be at deaths door and unconscious before anyone can get her medical attention?

You really want to know how I feel? Really? This is polls and all that random stuff... yet, the flippant manner in which you ignore many things to highlight some things, kind of pisses me off PA. Find a mirror, your kettle is on the fire... yadda yadda yadda. You don't like it when people say rude things to you, yet you open the door here.

Hypochondria is a medical condition, much like many other medical conditions that are misunderstood, over used as a way to ignore, explain away and justify many things. Do we laugh at the many mental illnesses that others have shown? Well, some do... but shame on you PA.

Hypochondria is a touchy word to me. I come from a line of persons called hypochondriacs... all whom died proving they weren't. This word and drug addict in the wrong place, pisses me off because I have been called them most my life... only to prove I wasn't either and had deadly medical issues, rare ones and strange ones. I have never laughed at your medical issues and tried to be considerate of them, however... you push a bit far with this lil joke of yours. Shame on you. Not simply because you managed to piss me off... but because you are blatantly calling the kettle black when you are a kettle.

Hypochondriac is a word or condition overused and inappropriately used when a medical practitioner often fails to see something, know something or wish to do more than take some stats and collect a fee. Many are abused by this word and the people using it. Many suffer for years because of the misconceptions of what this word means and the application that many give to it. It is a real condition, misunderstood and yet laughed at by the ignorant. To those laughed at, ignored and treated as if they have a condition they do not have and the lacks and ignorance sometimes risking the lives of those accused falsely, should be considered a wrong... but no... we laugh because doesn't everyone know a neurotic hypochondriac?

Oh hell.. PA... the sky is falling... get back to your typical.

If i might...

Hypochondriasis is an excessive preoccupation or worry about having a serious illness.Hypochondriacs become irrationally frightened about any physical symptoms they detect, no matter how minor the symptom may be. They are convinced that they have or are about to have a serious illness.

Many hypochondriacs experience elevated blood pressure, stress, and anxiety in the presence of doctors or while occupying a medical facility, a condition known as "white coat syndrome." Most hypochondriacs require constant reassurance, either from doctors, family, or friends, and the disorder can become a disabling torment for the individual with hypochondriasis, as well as his or her family and friends. Some hypochondriacal individuals completely avoid any reminder of illness, whereas others frequently visit doctors’ offices. Other hypochondriacs will never speak about their terror, convinced that their fear of having a serious illness will not be taken seriously by those in whom they confide.

I highlighted a few words in the above definition...disabling, torment and terror. Hypochondriasis simply is not funny.

I have taken a time out and will return to it after this. I didn't want to leave this without saying I am sorry I triggered. It's a real touchy subject for me and I am tired. That doesn't excuse my anger or justify it. It is what it is and I did what I did and said what I said and meant what I said, however in another time I would have dismissed it and walked away. I didn't.

I do laugh at my illnesses and such. I see little wrong with it. You either laugh or cry sometimes... but my anger was out of line. Its just that sometimes others laughing isn't the same thing as you laughing about yourself or someone close. I guess this is kind of like a fat thread... and I better shut up and go chill.

Lockit...what the hell do you have to apologize for?

Look at some of the illnesses that are prevalent in our society now but were laughed at and ridiculed, and still are, because of a lack of understanding.

-HIV/Aids...yep...that was really funny, huh? It belonged to the gays and the druggies, and they were "getting what they deserved" or..."Hey...at least they have a great way to lose a few pounds!!"

-Swine Flu...OINK!!! Enough said. How many has it killed?

-Substance abuse......Charlie Sheen is the punchline of everyones jokes, but there were two tiny boys removed from his custody. Bet they weren't laughing.

-Brain injuries...This one is personal and yes, i do laugh about it, because laughter hides the tears.

-Mental illness...where to start?

Lockit...do not be sorry for your anger. More of us should be that way, as anger is the ultimate motivator and that motivation might just lead to an increased understanding and acceptance of what others are going through.

Where did my idea on this thread come from?

Mom is constantly CONSTANTLY lamenting on how she is feeling-ailing-   us kids - over the years- can zero in somehow on a serious complaint vs her just making conversation.

...mom baby sits my sisters kid and is over there every day-  so her 4 year old now is picking up the habit of feeling badly- tummy aches when it is not- because he hears his gram- so he imitates what the adults do.

My sister has told my mom to mind what she says in front of the boys as now she cant tell when  the kid has a real tummy ache-  or not.

She does not want to reward her boys for being sick-

(so that is what triggered this thread)

I had an aunt who was a terrible hypochondriac. For over a decade, every week or so, she would go to a new doctor with new symptoms of some rare, dreaded disease.

When she had cancer, noone believed her until it was too late.

I'm not a hypochondriac. I was born this way. Honestly.
